Fantastic Snore: Another Flatliner For The FourRating: 2 likes, 1 dislikes
The Fantastic Four has never been done right in the animated medium, not unless you look VERY hard and find gems like the second season of the much lambasted 1990's series and the original Hannah Barbera series, even episodes with HERBIE The Robot are better than this latest modern take on the franchise.

The characters are harder-edged, Sue is a nagging, sharp, and spicy girl as opposed to the calmer, headstrong and responsible parent she presently is in the comics. Reed is pretty her pussy-whipped husband, and he's the only one who looks the oldest due to the grey streak in his hair, making him look out of place and unappealing to the target audience.

Where as the FF's second season developed Sue's family life superbly by making her the puppet of Psycho-Man, the pace of the series so far seems more interested in steering Reed in that direction. The Thing and Johnny Storm's usual adolescent antics will please eight year olds, they don't evolve beyond the usual antics.

The Fantastic Four are better handled when the characters have more maturity, or are becoming more mature. Johnny Storm losing two loves of his life liked Medusa and Crystal in the 90's series, Ben Grimm's love Alica, Reed and Sue's family life, THAT is what the audience should be watching and should be trusted to watch. The FF are a family, not a superhero team, and Marvel never seem to grasp that with handling them outside of the comics.

Breathtaking animation, but with childish plots which ever leave the "safe zone" of children's animation, Fantastic Four is just another missed opportunity for the Worlds Greatest Comic Magazine.
