Episode Notes
David Kemper originally pitched the concept of this episode as an idea for Star Trek: The Next Generation with a slime creature infecting a seemingly deserted ship.
The title is a reference to the novel Through the Looking Glass (And What Alice Found There) - British author Lewis Carroll's sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
The music for each colorful dimension of Moya was carefully coordinated with the sound department, with the yellow dimension not having much music, the read being threatening, and the blue more dreamy.
When the idea was transferred to Farscape, there were considerable discussions about the way to present the creature, and the episode was pushed back to the latter part of the first season.
At one stage, this episode was known as "The Fifth Reality".
Prior to Farscape, David Kemper's science fiction credits included episodes of The Twilight Zone and SeaQuest DSV.
Crichton refers to Star Search, the highly successful television talent show that was responsible for discovering many future stars, including Britney Spears!
