Episode Notes

This episode marks the first appearances of Scorpius (Wayne Pygram) and Stark (Paul Goddard) on the series. Both characters would play a major role for the remainder of the series.

Alyssa-Jane Cook returns as Gilina, Crichton's PK Tech Girl from the Zelbinion.

Before he appeared as Scorpius, Wayne Pygram appeared in numerous Australian films and TV series including Time Trax and Fire.

Paul Goddard, being best known at the time for his role as Agent Brown in The Matrix.

Crichton's reference to Scorpius as Nosferatu was picked up later in the series when the Scorpius neural clone "Harvey" returned from the dead in a scene that paid homage to the classic 1920's film.

The original conecpt of Scorpius was as an insectoid character who would have appeared much earlier in the first season.

The title "Nerve" is taken from British racing author Dick Francis' first thriller. Ricky Manning's wife is a fan of the author, and Manning thought it was an appropriate title.

Paul Goddard researched Jack Nicholson's performance in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Brad Pitt's in Twelve Monkeys for keys to play Stark's madness.

"Nerve" was the first time that an episode of Farscape ended with a To Be Continued.
