Episode Notes

Although the Budong was created using computer generated effects, the Creature Shop was responsible for the more Peacekeeper-ish DRDs on board Talyn that annoy Crichton at the start of the episode.

Contrary to popular belief, DRDs are not made from bicycle helmets - Dave Elsey stresses that "they are completely pattern made by model makers: they are much bigger than a bicycle helmet."

The Budong first appeared in the season 2 episode "Home on the Remains," where we learned that their corpses are mined for valuable nogelti crystals.

The title "Green Eyed Monster" comes from a line from Shakespeare's play Othello. "O beware, my lord, of jealousy;/ It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock / The meet it feeds on."

This was Ben Browder's first script for television, which David Kemper announced to the world in a chat on the British Sci-Fi Channel's bulletin board after the debut of the series on cable in the UK.

This is the first time that Aeryn Sun is seen in the new form fitting spacesuit design by Terry Ryan, which was created for this episode.

Aeryn's comment about it being "pitch black" is a reference to Claudia Black's 1999 feature film of that name - but the line was written by Ben Browder, not Black.

If you listen carefully to the music that accompanies the Budong, you can hear a full Cathedral organ adding to Guy Gross' palette of sound.

Many of the unusual camera angles were achieved by using hand held cameras and then treating the results in post-production. Ben Browder nicknamed this "Tilse vision" after the director, Tony Tilse.

Mintaka 3 was the setting for the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Who Watches the Watchers," written by Farscape's producer Ricky Manning.
