Episode Notes

English born William Zappa, who plays Captain Molayne, appeared alongside Virginia Hey in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, and was a guest star on the Australian-based remake of Mission: Impossible in the late 80's.

Writer Ricky Manning notes that Scorpius's missing years, including his first meeting with his lover Natira, who we met in Season 2's "Liars, Guns and Money" trilogy, "will have to stay untold for a while..."

"Incubator" marks another example of what Ricky Manning describes as "Farscape's relentless eye-pummeling," following eye attacks in Season 1's "DNA Mad Scientist," and Season 2's "A Clockwork Nebari..."

Nicholas Bishop, who plays Ghebb Delos, worked with Farscape guest stars Matt Newton and Melissa Jaffer on the Australian coming of age drama My Mother Frank.

Director Ian Watson compares Scorpius's story to the legend of Greystoke - also known as Tarzan of the Apes. But in Scorpius's case, he is trying to escape from his captors...

According to director Ian Watson, Evan Sheaves, who plays the child Scorpius, was a "nicely spoken, gentle boy" who had played a lot of hard-bitten roles on police dramas in Australia.

Fiona Gentile was lead puppeteer for the first time on the female Scarran, having worked on numerous creatures over the two years she was involved with the show, and provided the voice for Tocot in "Die Me, Dichotomy" and "Season of Death."

According to executive producer David Kemper, the sequence showing Scorpius's backstory are the same ones that Scorpius shows to the real Crichton when he boards the Command Carrier at the end of the season.

"Incubator" marked another occasion on which an extra set was built for the episode, which was then used more fully in the climatic two-parter on the Command Carrier, allowing a more epic feel to the close of the season.

Ben Browder decided to play the neural clone version of Crichton as if the events of Season 3 had not occured. Time was suspended for the neural clone when Scorpius removed the chip in "Die Me, Dichotomy," so the clone believed Aeryn was still dead.
