Episode Notes

Rebecca Riggs, who makes her first appearance as Mele-On Grayza in this episode, is a great fan of science fiction and grew up loving the British scifi Blake's 7.

Riggs can be seen in a less strident role in the 1999 TV movie Alien Cargo and appeared with Wayne Pygram in the 1998 TV movie Day of the Roses.

Sean Taylor, who plays Lt. Reljik, can be seen in The Adventures of Sinbad, The Lost World and the movie Tarzan and the Lost City, as well as the Stephen King horror film The Mangler.

Lenore Smith, who plays Crais' former lover Darinta Larell, is best known to audiences from her long stint on the Australian soap opera The Flying Doctors.

Lewis Fitz-Gerald worked with Claudia Black on the movie Pitch Black, and was one of the condemned soldiers in Breaker Morant, for which Jonathan Hardy was nominated for a screenwriting Academy Award.

The scene in which Moya's crew walk through the assembled soldiers on the Command Carrier was a conscious recreation by director Ian Watson of a sequence at the end of Star Wars: A New Hope.

The music during the World War II scenes includes a reference to the war song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home."

The sequence inside the ship's park were filmed at Centennial Park in Sydney. There was a strong early morning mist on the day of filming, creating what Claudia Black described as a "surreal atmosphere."

Henta's demotion was a direct result of Aeryn Sun's contamination and exile, way back in the Premiere episode.

Dave Elsey's original concept for Commandant Grayza would have outfitted her to be more reminiscent of Judi Dench's portrayal of Queen Elizabeth I in the film Shakespeare in Love. The sleek look was adopted when Rebecca Riggs was cast.
