Claudia Black was away during the filming of "Crichton Kicks," so the scenes where pregnant Aeryn was lying on the beach were shot during the filming of episode 5 and inserted into this episode during post-production.

The beach scenes were filmed at the world-famous Bondi Beach, home of the surfer community in Australia.

The lines that Crichton shouts at the Grudeks are based on the "real" Klingon language created by Marc Okrand for the Star Trek television series. Ben Browder asked Ricky Manning if he could find something that roughly meant "Get the hell off my ship!"

This is the first episode of Farscape to be filmed in widescreen, although versions for the standard shaped TV screen were created in post-production for broadcast in other countries.

The scene at the very beginning of the episode, where Crichton sums up his situation, was added to the episode as a voiceover to explain to the new audience who he was and to help regular viewers catch up with some of what had happened between seasons.

This is not the first time that the audience has seen John Crichton with a beard. He grew one while lost on the planet Acquara in the first season episode "Jeremiah Crichton."

That facial hair Ben Browder is wearing is his own. He grew the beard during the hiatus between seasons 3 and 4, then actually shaved it off during the filming of this episode.

The decaying Pilot was created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop using foam insides from the Pilot puppet. A new foam body was made for Pilot's first proper appearance in episode five.

Raelee Hill, who joined the series as Sikozu Svala Shanti Sugaysi Shanu in this episode, had previously worked on fantasy shows The Lost World and Beastmaster, as well as the Australian drama Water Rats.

Look carefully at the dog that terrorizes Crichton. It has six legs. The CG house Animal Logic spent a great deal of time working out the mechanics of how such a beast would move. Ben Browder enjoyed filming the scenes where the dog would eventually appear, although he was acting with nothing there in the studio.
