The costume of the belly dancing alien is inspired by the aliens Whitley Streiber describes in his book Communion. Dave Elsey felt that it was about time that the traditional "gray" aliens made an appearance.

Although we don't see it in the final version, Jim Henson's Creature Shop added huge tufts of underarm hair to Noranti for the belly dancing sequence. That's what Crichton and D'Argo are reacting to!

Both Melissa Jaffer and dancer Christina Ramon were performing to a tune that Guy Gross had composed and recorded prior to filming. He replaced it for the final version of the episode with a different musical number that better complemented the editing.

John Adam, who plays Raa'Keel, had previously played the Tavlek warrior Bekhesh in the first season's "Throne for a Loss" and the second season's "Liars, Guns, and Money" trilogy. Once again, he was nearly blind in the costume.

All of the planet sets - complete with flowing lava - were created in the studio by production designer Tim Ferrier. He describes this as one of the toughest episodes of the entire series for him and his department.

Jim Henson's Creature Shop didn't really encase one of the Rygel puppets in amber. They found an amber liquid which would look realistic on film, but which was much easier to use in the studio.
