It Takes Two - Recap

With Priscilla Barrosso out of the competition, it is down to Team Jessica: Hunter Bell, and JesseRay Vasquez & Garrett Gerson, Team John: Amber Perley, Cassandra Hobbins, Silvia Arguello and Brandon Scott and Team Nicole: Johana Hernandez and Daniel Silverstein as they take on the new challenge. They have to impress not only mentors Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos and Nicole Richie, but also have to sell to Macy’s buyer Caprice Willard, Saks Fifth Avenue’s buyer Terron Schaefer and Express buyer Erica De Salvatore. Louis Roe comes out and says that this week’s theme is “Pairs” and the contestants are going to have to work together to create a new design.

The mentors get into the design studio and tell the designers that they are going to work in pairs. Daniel is not happy with pairing with Johana. Only the pair with the highest bid is safe from elimination. Jessica tells JesseRay & Garrett and Hunter that they are going to have to get the highest bid. They work out the details. Nicole tells Daniel & Johana that they have to sell to department stores. Johana is shooting down his ideas. John talks to his team and Cassandra & Brandon are pairing and Amber & Silvia are pairing up. They get to work and Cassandra says that she started in Mens Wear and is taking a huge risk. Daniel and Johana don’t agree with Daniel’s artistic nature. He is not at all happy. Amber tries to keep in mind that she has to be modern. Silvia helps her with getting the modern look. Hunter says that she feels confident in this challenge and says that with her clothing total at $500,000, this is the best.

Daniel and Johana are pitching their ideas to Nicole and she sees that there is serious beef. She sits down with them and they talk about it. Nicole says that they are a real good pair because Daniel is artistic and Johana knows how to make it sale. Susan Cernek, the Fashion Development Director of Glamour magazine comes in and talks to the teams. She likes the ideas that they have come up with. Brandon wants to make sure that Cassandra is on point and that he is not trying to be a bad teammate, he just wants to win. Cassandra says that it feels like a relationship with Brandon because he is being too clingy. John comes up to Silvia and Amber and asks how the jacket is with the blouse. Silvia freaks out and decides on doing pants. JesseRay & Garrett and Hunter talk with Jessica and she is impressed with Hunter. Cassandra’s jacket doesn’t fit right and it freaks out Brandon. Everyone likes Daniel and Johana’s look. Hunter gets worried and wants to change things.

The outfits come out. First up is Team John. Cassandra & Brandon’s “Pant and Jacket” comes out and Nicole likes the combination. The designers come out and John says that Cassandra’s jacket was really nice. They face the buyers. For Brandon: No Offer from Saks Fifth Avenue and Express. Macy’s gives him a bid of $50,000. For Cassandra: No Offers from Saks Fifth Avenue and Express. Macy’s gives her a bid of $75,000. Total sale for the combined outfit is $120,000.

Silvia & Amber’s “Soft Modern Pant and Blouse” comes out and Nicole loves the orange. John is glad that it panned out. The designers come out and John says that they really came together on this. They face the buyers. For Silvia: No Offers from Macy’s, but Saks Fifth Avenue and Express have a bidding war. Express wins it for $100,000. For Amber: No Offers from Macy’s, but Express and Saks Fifth Avenue make a bid. Saks wins it for $150,000. Terron says that the stripe was novel and well executed. This gives them a total amount of $250,000.

Team Jessica is next. Hunter & JesseRay & Garrett’s “Snap Pencil Skirt and Sweater” comes out and the mentors really like it and the prints. The designers come out and Jessica says that it looked like they were one designer. They face the buyers. For JesseRay & Garrett: No Offers from Saks Fifth Avenue or Express. Macy’s gives them a bid of $50,000. Caprice likes the sweater and says that it was well done. For Hunter: Express gives her a bid of $55,000. This gives them a total of $105,000.

Lastly is Team Nicole. Daniel & Johana’s “Top and Pencil Skirt” comes out and Nicole loves the panel on the skirt. Jessica likes the sparkles. The designers come out and Nicole says that this is a perfect example of people who think that they are different and how they see that they are great. They face the buyers. For Johana: No Offer from Express, but Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy’s have a bidding war. Saks wins it for $175,000. Terron says that the print work was really great. For Daniel: No Offers from Express, but Macy’s and Saks gives his a bid. Saks wins it for $180,000. Terron says that they needed both. Total sale of $355,000! Biggest amount of the night!

The mentors get together and John says that they need to look at which are worthy for the finals. Hunter Bell, JesseRay Vasquez & Garrett Gerson, Amber Perley, Cassandra Hobbins, Silvia Arguello and Brandon Scott come out and the mentors say that Brandon and Amber are in their bottom two. Brandon and Amber face the buyers. Caprice votes to send home Amber, Terron votes to send home Brandon and Erika votes to send home Brandon. This means that Brandon Scott is on his way home. Next week is “Buyer’s Choice”!
