Pilot - Recap

The episode starts out at a race track. Van and Cassidy are in a Ford GT40 racing around the track. Cassidy pulls out a gun and asks if he's a cop and starts to frisk him. Cut to a flashback of Van and Andre as Andre finds out that Van stole $100K from evidence to help them with their sting and Andre is completely doesn't like it. Back inside the car, Cassidy is getting close to the wire so Van spins the car out and that slings her back into her seat. They get out of the car and Van drops the wire. They make a deal for the 100K for the car. As the deal is finishing, the cops rush in to make the bust. A gun fight ensues and Andre is gunned down by a sniper in the press box. Cassidy grabs the money, gets into her car, and bails. Van sees this and hops into the GT40 and chases her around the track. Cassidy gets away when the cops fail to close the gate in time, but do close it on van and he his the barricade and flips the car.

At police headquarters in the interrogation room Van is being questioned and asked about the $100K missing from the evidence room. He's told if he get the $100K back over the weekend, everything will be fine or it's his ass as well as the memory of his partner's. As Van is heading out to his car, he's met by Billie. She says she's been watching him for a while and asks if he wants another shot at catching Cassidy and Andre's killer. Out in New York, Deaq is playing basketball and gets a call informing him of his brothers death. Deaq heads to L.A. and sees Aquarius, an old gangster friend of his and gets a gun from him. Aquarius tell him about the operation that killed his brother.

Down at the beach, Cassidy meets up with her boss, Kane. He wants to know what happened and who's who. He tells Cassidy to get closer to Van and find out his story. Meanwhile, Van is walking down an alley with Billie and she gives him her pitch. Then the walk inside the Candy Store and it's filled with all kinds of high end merchandise, cars, bikes, furniture, etc. She tells him how the keep everything the seize and use it to make busts. Van says he's in and they start to devise a plan to get close to Cassidy. Van gets a criminal record, a hot new place, and some fancy clothes. Van then heads off and finds Cassidy in a club. He tells her he wants his $100K back because they never actually closed. She tells him since he wrecked it he bought it. Van then says, in that case, he wants to make another buy. Cassidy informs him that any future transactions will require a $500K sum up front and she takes off. Van then gets a note saying to meet him in a hotel room. Van heads up to the room and is ambushed by Deaq and he wants answers to his brother's death. Van realized that this is Andre's brother and tries to talk him down. They fight and careen into the balcony and over the ledge. They fall into the pool and are arrested.

Van and Deaq are walking entering their cell. Van is tell Deaq how to act when into a cell full of black guys. Van starts to get worried. Moments later, Van pops up from the middle of them quizzing them on 80's New Wave music much to Deaq's surprise. Van and Deaq are then bailed out by Billie and she starts to give Deaq the riot act about how he's acting. She tells him to tell her what he knows or he's headed back to his cell. He tells her that the GT40 was from a high up criminal. They find out that it was owned by Papa Joe Stump and Deaq joins Van to check him out. Van and Deaq get to his club, a redneck biker bar. Deaq seems completely out of his element. He takes a cowboy hat and heads to the dance floor, where he begins line dancing... well. Papa Joe interrupts him and they head to the back and Papa Joe tells them how they were hit.

Cass meets up with Van at his hotel room and she wants the down payment. They have a couple drinks and talk about what happened at the track. Van kisses her and they have sex. The next day, Van and Deaq are in a car at the beach following Cassidy. They're discussing Andre, when out on the beach Cassidy meets up with her boss, Kane. She tells him that she wants out for awhile and he punches her in the stomach. He tells her what her job is and where he found her. Kane then punches her in the face and heads out. Van and Deaq follow him to a house where he gets out of his car, puts on a DEA jacket, and moves in on a bust.

Back at the Candy Store, they tell Billie what they saw and she tell them that she's already suspected him. Van's pissed he was kept out of the loop. The set up a sting for Kane where Deaq acts like a criminal and flaunts the car Kane is after, a Shelby Cobra. Deaq is going to throw a huge bash with all his old gangsta pals. Van takes off and heads to his hotel room. The place has been tossed and Cassidy is sitting in the middle of it. She wants him to know she did it and if he's really a cop. If he is, she's dead. Cassidy leaves and meets up with Kane. He tells her how it's going to go down. Van is her responsibility to take to the meeting and if he makes one wrong move, kill him. A Deaq's pad the party is jumping. Kane and his hockey mask partners rush the house. They knock Deaq out and flex cuff everybody.

Still at the party, they load the Shelby up into a trailer. Deaq wakes up, gets out of his cuffs, and pages Billie. Kane realizes that this is a sting and hops into the truck with Shelby in tow and takes off. As it does, Deaq jumps onto the trailer and tags along. At the rendezvous spot Van and Cassidy are waiting. Kane drives up and tries to run Van down. Van puts several rounds from his gun into the windshield which causes Kane to veer off and flips the truck and trailer. Van tries to get to him, but Kane jumps him. Deaq then jumps him and holds Kane's AK-47 at him. A shot rings out, but it is Cassidy that shoots Kane in the chest. Cassidy gives herself up, but Deaq lets her take off. Back in L.A., Van brings the $100K back to his former superiors. Billie then tells him that she knows about Cassidy and they have some paperwork to fake.
