In a Yorkshire hospital an abandoned newborn is discovered; at the same time a commuter train is halted by a suicidal jumper. Could they be connected?

PC Laurie Franklin is convinced that the two events (the abandoned baby and the body on the train tracks) are connected, but she has little success in persuading her new boss, DI Mal Craig. That is, until new evidence in the form of mobile phone footage of the "jumper" suggests murder.

In an attempt to garner more leads with the investigation, the train incident is reconstructed. In the meantime, tension and suspicion are on the rise within the Preston / Akram family.
