White To Play - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Charlie is at her school as the other children play "blackout," where they pretend they've all gone asleep. Charlie is the only one who refuses to play. They all stand up and talk about their visions, but Charlie refuses to say what she saw. One boy picks on her and rips the head off of her stuffed animal. She runs away from the teacher and out into the streets where she comes to soldiers manning a barricade as helicopters pass overhead.

At AA, Tomasi is talking about how he's upset about what he's seen and that he can't deal with the pressure. Mark realizes that he's been drinking and tells him to cool off. After the meeting, Aaron tells him that interrupting another member's share isn't allowed and that Mark is getting angry because of his vision that he goes back to drinking, and because Olivia's vision involved her with another man. Mark's sponsor admits that for the first time, everyone on Earth has a single common experience and they have all seen the future.

Wedeck calls a staff meeting and notes that six agents have quit. He insists that the rest of them have to find answers for the people across the world who are counting on them. The Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, Anastasia Markham, come in and demands to know why a mere field office is handling the investigation. Mark insists that because of his vision, they're the best qualified. He's called away to the school where he and Olivia talk to the principal. She says that Charlie is the only one not discussing her visions and wonders if their child has said anything to them. Mark says they're taking a wait and see approach and the principal wonders if they're having any marital problems. The couple quickly denies having any issues and the principal says that they should try to get Charlie to say what she saw.

Outside, Mark and Olivia watch Charlie play. Mark asks about Olivia's vision and she insists that she has no intention of leaving him for another man. He wonders if Charlie saw the man in her vision and is concerned that the family is falling apart. Olivia insists she isn't going anywhere and the couple end up joking about divorce attorneys.

Deputy Secretary Markham has Janis present a report on the new website they're spending federal funds on. Janis explains that they're compiling hundreds of thousands of reports and slowly building a mosaic of what happened on April 29, 2010. Markham doesn't believe it was a planned agent but Wedeck and Agent Gough point out that it occurred at exactly 11 a.m., meaning the odds were 1 in 3,600 of that happening. Demetri sides with Markham, insisting it's just a coincidence. However, Wedeck plays the recording from the stadium in Detroit showing one conscious individual during the flash-forward.

When Nicole doesn't show up to babysit, Olivia takes Charlie to the hospital with her. Bryce tells Olivia that they're starting to get a handle on the patience admission, and Lloyd Simcoe wants to talk to her about his son, Dylan. Olivia takes Charlie's decapitated doll to her office to do some "surgery" and Lloyd comes in. Olivia is surprised to see that he's the man from her vision. Lloyd explains that he's been at Dylan's bedside for three days and never seen her. He explains that Dylan is autistic and that he's avoiding telling his son that his mother died in an accident during the event. Olivia tells him to speak to Bryce.

As they discuss the case, Demetri notices that Mark is wearing a friendship bracelet like the one in his vision. He argues that Mark is trying to make the future he saw come true, but Mark figures his partner is concerned because he saw nothing during his vision. Mark wants to use his vision to their advantage to anticipate the future, and starts with the name "D. Gibbons" from the board in his dream. Janis arrives to tell them that a Didi Gibbons has just arrived. She owns a cupcake bakery in Long Beach and hands around samples. She tells them that in her vision, she was arguing with the credit card company about some unauthorized charges. She remembers talking about pigeons and giving them Mark's and Demetri's names. Afterward, Demetri wonders if Didi is lying but Mark figures that it must somehow tie in with his vision.

After the team meeting, Mark asks Wedeck if he saw anything in his vision that would tie in with Mark’s Wedeck finally admits he lied about being in a meeting and was actually on the toilet. When another agent blacked out and drowned in a urinal, Wedeck was forced to administer mouth-to-mouth. He warns Mark never to say what happened to anyone.

Olivia finishes repairing Charlie’s stuffed animal and takes her daughter for a walk. She takes Charlie to Dylan’s room and asks her if she recognizes Lloyd. She doesn’t, but when she sees the injured Dylan, she breaks into tears and calls the boy by name. Charlie admits she saw Dylan in her dream but doesn’t describe anything else.

The Mosaic team checks Didi’s credit card record and discover that someone used a cloned credit card to buy gas in Utah. Wedeck has an idea and Janis confirms that there is a Pigeon, Utah. Olivia arrives and tells Mark what happened at the hospital. She admits that Lloyd is the man in her vision and realizes that that Lloyd didn’t see her in the vision, which is why he doesn’t recognize her now. Mark isn’t satisfied when Olivia tries to reassure him. Before she can pursue the matter, Demetri arrives to tell his partner that the suspect is preparing to leave Pigeon by buying a bus ticket.

Mark and Demetri fly to Pigeon and the local law officer, Sheriff Keegan, greets them. As they head for town, Keegan says that she’s happy she didn’t experience a flash-forward during the event, because the people in town who have are torturing themselves over what they saw.

Markham demands a report on the stadium incident from Wedeck and Janis. Janis has confirmed that the unknown figure is a man, and labels him Suspect Zero. Wedeck notes that the man in the video is calm and relaxed and clearly was expecting the event, but Markham isn’t convinced.

At the hospital, Lloyd talks to Bryce, who assures him that Dylan is going to pull through. When Lloyd wonders how he can be so sure, Bryce tells him that he saw something positive in his vision and that they were all given a great gift. What they do with the gift of foreknowledge will be the ultimate test.

Mark and Demetri watch the Pigeon bus depot but the suspect never picks up his ticket. Demetri believes that proves that Mark’s vision won’t help them solve the case. He insists that everything that’s happened is just coincidence. They start to leave but Mark notices an abandoned doll factory nearby. He remembers a photo of a doll on his future Mosaic board and they go to investigate. When they go up the indoor stairs, they set off a trigger that activates the dolls, causing them to start singing. They race up into the upstairs office and find a man with his back turned toward them, surrounded by computers. He says “He who foresees calamities suffers them twice over” and then starts a fire as a distraction. He turns and shoots Keegan, killing her, and then triggers pre-planted explosives to cover his escape.

Later, the fire department douses the flames and Mark notices a forensics tech taking a photo of a burnt doll: the one from his photo. Demetri watches them take away Keegan’s body. He refuses to discuss the matter with Mark but shows them the two clues they found: a white queen from a chess set and a cell phone. The technicians have determined the man was using the computers to hack into other computer systems across the world, including the Mosaic web site. Demetri believes that the suspect was also trying to determine the cause of the event.

Olivia leaves for the day and notices Lloyd sitting outside. When Lloyd admits he still hasn’t told Dylan that his mother is dead, Olivia advises him that the most important thing is to tell Dylan that he loves him.

Mark puts the doll photo up on the board with his slowly growing collection of evidence.

Lloyd starts to tell Dylan about his mother and says that he loves him. Dylan asks to see Olivia.

Wedeck informs Demetri that Janice has traced the six phone calls made from the cell phone. The last one was made during the event and went to the stadium in Detroit.

Later, Demetri checks in with Janice and notes that all of Mark’s clues have proven useful. Didi stops by to thank them for saving her credit score and gives them cupcakes as a gift. Janis describes her vision of being pregnant and Demetri suggests that she post her vision on the web site so the sonographer can read it and contact her with any useful information. Janice wonders about his vision and Demetri admits that Keegan’s lack of a vision seemed to signify her death. Janis wonders if he’s told his fiancée, Zoey, but Demetri says it’s not something to say to your wife-to-be. Janis suggests he put his vision up on the web and see if anyone can help.

Olivia finds Mark sitting in the living room at 3 a.m., drinking ginger ale. He admits that while he’s hoping his vision of the future comes true, he doesn’t want hers to happen. When she wonders if she did the right thing by telling him about Lloyd, he admits that she did… while covering up his drinking in the future. As they sit, Mark watches Charlie’s friendship bracelet burn in the fireplace.

Demetri leaves for the day and a woman calls him. She doesn’t explain how she got his phone number but says that in her vision, she was reading an intelligence briefing. According to the file, Demetri is murdered on March 15, 2010.

Mark goes to Charlie’s room. She tells him that she’s worried because all the kids at school had good vision. Mark tells her that only the good ones will come true and the bad ones are a warning of what to avoid. Charlie says that she didn’t understand her warning, and tells Mark that “D. Gibbons is a bad man.”
