Bryce watches two talk show pundits discuss he implications of Gough's suicide, and then prepares to send out an e-mail to others in his group, an e-mail titled "We have to take responsibility." He pauses for a moment and then sends it.

Upon learning that Gough killed himself, Janis goes to see Stan and asks for some time off to deal with all the upheavals in her life. He warns that they're shorthanded and need her there, but Janis says that since Gough's death she doesn't know whether to embrace her flashforward or reject it. Stan insists that Gough's action means that their choices matter more than ever.

Lloyd is with his son with Simon comes to visit. He takes Simon outside and defends the e-mail he sent, but Simon warns it's suicide to go public and isn't sure they caused the Blackout. Lloyd disagrees and insists that people want answers, and they have to provide them.

Olivia notes that they have to leave the hotel sometime, but Mark disagrees. He gives her a present to celebrate second chances and the ability to change what they saw. Mark's cell phone rings: it's Demetri, who tells his partner to check his laptop. He sends Mark video of a robbery and murder in Barstow, taken by a woman with a cell phone. It raised a red flag because one of the men has the three-star tattoo from Mark's flashforward. Mark tells Demetri he's heading back.

Back at headquarters, Demetri confirms that the victim was an aeronautics engineer, Parofsky, and the witness thought Parofsky handed his killers something before they shot him. Mark greets Janis, who has flowers for him to give to Olivia as thanks for her surgical skills. She has enhanced images of the killers for Mark, who has Vreede do a background check while they talk to the witness, Ingrid Alvarez. He figures it's the best lead they have and plans to find the man so he doesn't show up on April 29.

At her office, Olivia opens Mark's present. She discovers it's the same lingerie that she was wearing in her flashforward. Bryce stops in to ask why she came back early. Olivia casually puts off his question and goes back to work.

Tracy wakes up screaming from a nightmare where she lost her leg during the enemy attack where she was reported dead. Aaron asks if she wants to talk about it but she refuses, and he insists. He explains that in four months he'll be at her side in Afghanistan so they might as well get started now in whatever will involve him.

Olivia asks Bryce why Dylan wasn't discharged in her absence and Bryce explains that they found a DVT. He wonders why she's so anxious to get Dylan discharged and if it involves Lloyd. He admits he's noticed that Lloyd and Olivia have an odd relationship. Lloyd come over to ask about Dylan's condition but Simon jumps in, saying he's sure that Lloyd can be spared for a few hours since Dylan is almost ready to be discharged. Olivia confirms his diagnosis and goes off on rounds. Simon wonders if Lloyd is sleeping with her and then explains that he's there to stop Lloyd. When Lloyd refuses to back down, Simon says that he can either do something tawdry, or they settle it in a civilized manner by playing poker. If Simon wins, Lloyd stays quiet. If Lloyd wins, the group goes public.

Mark, Janis, and Demetri arrive in Barstow and discover that the police are at Ingrid's house. Someone has been shot twice in the head, in a gold sedan outside the house. They introduce themselves to Detective Rick Malchiodi, who confirms that Ingrid is alive and her roommate was killed.

Lloyd and Simon go to a casino to play and Lloyd begins losing. Simon assures his associate that he can console himself with the knowledge that when he loses, he'll have no choice but to keep quiet.

At FBI headquarters, the agents talk to Ingrid, who explains that she was working late with her co-worker. They left and she went to her car, and saw Parofsky arguing with two men. She hid and called 911, and used her phone to take video of the incident. One was bald and the other had gray hair, but otherwise she can't provide much of use. Finally she remembers that as they were walking away, they said something that sounded like "QED."

As the two men play, one of the other players brings up the inevitability index concept that's being circulated. Simon insists that it's a scam and that the future can't be calculated. He points out to Lloyd that fate is fate and none of them are responsible. When Lloyd questions him, Simon insists that quantum physics indicates he'll win every hand until the game is over. Lloyd attacks him for hiding behind intellectual argument and not caring about anyone. Simon calls, and Lloyd loses again. he tells Lloyd he knew he was bluffing because everything is predetermined and the game is pointless.

Nicole is at the hospital, remembering her flashforward of someone drowning her, when Olivia comes over. She knows from Mark what Nicole saw, but Nicole insists that she'll be fine now that they've discovered the future can be changed.

Tracy finally tells Aaron that her humvee was attacked by supposed friendlies and she couldn't go back to base. They were Jerichos, private military contractors connected with the Army, and she didn't know whom to trust. She was in the foothills of Kunar two weeks earlier, alone on recon, and saw Jericho wipe out a village. Tracy figures someone spotted her. She reported to her superior officer, and later she and Mike were assigned to roadblock duty. The enemies breached the roadblock and when they followed, they were led into a Jericho ambush. Tracy somehow survived but her leg was blown off.

Aaron arranges a private meeting with Mark and shows him photos of Tracy that he took. He tells Mark what Tracy described and how she lost her leg, and how she's been on the run ever since. Aaron needs Mark's help to deal with Jericho.

That night, Mark comes home and describes to Olivia about a seemingly impossible vision that came true. Olivia believes that means they have to try harder to avoid their flashforwards. Mark agrees and notes she's not wearing the lingerie she got him. Olivia makes an excuse so she doesn't have to tell him that she threw his gift away.

The next day, Mark meets with Stan and suggests they use Ingrid as bait in a trap to draw the suspects out. Stan is reluctant to endanger a civilian but Mark warns that they don't have any other leads. They've discovered that Parofsky was recently fired on suspicion of industrial espionage and figure he was selling secrets. Mark insists that they'll protect Ingrid and when they release her, the killers will know. When Janis wonders how, Stan points out that the enemy has been one step ahead of them all the time, and that they must have a mole. Mark figures his flashforward with the intruders confirms someone on the inside let them in, and this way they can identify their enemy.

Aaron tells Tracy that he's approached Mark, and she insists that there's nothing the FBI can do. She accuses Aaron of betraying her but Aaron insists that she'll be alive on April 29. He describes his vision of giving her the pocketknife, and then going outside and talking to a concerned man who said "The account has been verified." Aaron describes the man and Tracy recognizes him as Khamir Dejan, a field medic with the IMC who helped her after the ambush. She left so Jericho wouldn't kill him to get to her. Aaron insists that his vision must be true given so much confirming evidence he's seen so far.

Ingrid returns to her bird store and Janis is with her while Mark and the others set up outside. As they wait, Ingrid explains that in her flashforward, she had blonde hair and she was working at the Bronx Zoo. Outside, Demetri tells Mark that he told Zoey about his flashforward. Zoey wants him to quit but he doesn't see the point. Inside, Ingrid wants to give Janis one of her birds. The FBI agent declines, and they hear a bang nearby. Janis goes to investigate and the lights go out. She warns the others who come inside while she covers Ingrid. Mark and Demetri spot the gray-haired killer, whom turns toward Mark. Mark shoots the man dead. Afterward, he tries to get Demetri to confirm that the man was going to shoot Mark, but Demetri admits he wasn't sure. Outside, Janis explains that they'll have to put Ingrid into witness protection, and she realizes that's what she saw in her vision.

Lloyd is still losing and Simon wonders what he's thinking and what cards he has face down. He finally goes all in, confident he'll win, and Lloyd agrees. Simon turns up four of a kind but Lloyd reveals he has a straight flush. As they leave, Simon asks how he did it and Lloyd explains he used the sleight of hand he learned for Dylan to win the game, and tells Simon to prepare the first draft of their announcement.

Back at the office, Demetri wonders if Mark deliberately set out to kill the man to prevent his flashforward from occurring. When Mark wonders where he got that idea, Demetri admits that he had it himself. Mark doesn't confirm or deny the accusation.

Janis is reading up on sperm donation at her desk when Stan comes over in response to her e-mail. She shows him a new enhancement of the Detroit stadium photo and they spot a ring on the man's figure. Stan tells her to get the NSA to step up their efforts and congratulates Janis on her work.

Mark returns home and tells Olivia that he killed a man. As she tries to comfort him, he wonders if he's changed his future by killing one of the men in his flashforward.

At a military base, the second killer drops off the case they obtained from Parofsky. Other three-star men are moving supplies. One of them take the case to their leader, who opens it and reveals there are rings. The leader says that there are supposed to be seven. He then tells the deliveryman that during the first atom bomb test, one scientist said that they were all sons of bitches. The leader then shoots the deliveryman and leaves with the case.
