<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Five Years Ago

A teenage Tracy comes to visit her father Aaron in prison just before he goes in for a parole board meeting. He assures her that he's been keeping out of trouble and that he'll make things up to her once he's out. As she leaves, a guard comments about how attractive she looks and Aaron attacks him.

Now

Aaron tracks Tracy down to a bar where she's drinking. She refuses to listen to him when he tries to convince her to stop drinking and come home, but he points out that given how public she's being, the people from Jericho can easily find her.

When Zoey learns that Demetri discovered that Mark's gun is the one that kills him, she worries that Mark is the killer. She finally admits that her flashforward of the two minutes on the beach is from his memorial, not their wedding, and she doesn't want him to die. Demetri assures her that he's filed the paperwork to get Mark's gun destroyed so that he can change the future and prevent his death.

Before going to work in the morning, Janis takes prenatal vitamins and checks the days she has left until when her second trimester would fall on the day of the flashforward.

Zoey visits Mark at his home and cross-examines him about why he would kill Demetri. He insists that he wouldn't unless his life was in danger, and Zoey wonders why Demetri would feel threatened by Mark. When Mark hints that Demetri might be the mole in the FBI that they're tracking, Zoey takes offense and leaves.

Two Years Ago

Aaron is at home when two soldiers arrive to inform him that Tracy died in action. He tells them he knows how it works and closes the door, and then breaks down in tears.

Now

Aaron is making breakfast for Tracy and tells her that Mark has been investigating Jericho. Their CEO is James Erskine, who is headquartered in Santa Monica. Tracy's commanding office, Paul Musgrove, died in a mysterious helicopter crash two days after Tracy was reported dead, and Aaron figures it's no coincidence. Tracy tells her father to stop investigating, and admits that she's worried he may end up in Afghanistan like in their flashforwards, putting his life at risk. The man who got her out of Afghanistan, Khamir, thought that she was destined to bring her father there, but she doesn't want to get him killed. Aaron tells her that they'll both be all right.

Mark continues to interrogate Lloyd about the phone conversation in their mutual flashforwards. Lloyd refuses to say anything even after Mark shows him a sketch of D. Gibbons. Irritated, Mark takes Lloyd out.

Zoey brings Demetri lunch and then gives Stan a Freedom of Information request. She insists he turn over all relevant files on the Mosaic investigation. Demetri and Stan are both offended, and Stan tells her to get a judge if she wants access. Zoey agrees, but warns that everything will come out in open court. Stan has no choice but to reconsider and tells Demetri to get her the files.

At the docks, Mike Willingham talks to Aaron and notes that he received a blocked call from someone on his birthday. The person didn't say anything to him, but he figures it was Tracy. Aaron breaks down and tells him Tracy's secret, and they're both relieved that their flashforwards are coming true.

At Mark's home, Mark takes Lloyd to the bedroom and insists that they go over everything Lloyd experienced in his flashforward. Lloyd wonders if his being with Olivia in the flashforward bothers him, but Mark tells him to get on with it. Lloyd says that he received a text message of a formula from Simon, that he also had written on Olivia's mirror in lipstick. Lloyd then went downstairs to the living room and called Mark, and they talked about Mark's drinking. Then they discussed QED, and realize that it's a formula.

At a fertility clinic, Janis meets with a doctor, who warns against pregnancy given Janis' recent uterine injuries during the shootout. Janis refuses to wait, insisting that she wants to embrace the future she saw in her flashforward. If she wants to be in her second trimester in time for the flashforward, she needs to become pregnant within the week. Janis insists that she wants to have the child that she saw on the sonogram.

Demetri tells Zoey to drop her investigation into Mosaic, but she says that she has found something in the disposition of Demetri's interrogation of the terrorist, Alda Herzog. Demetri warns that Zoey is going over the line, but she insists on pursuing the matter.

At Aaron's home, Tracy is making supper when two men break in, drug her unconscious, and then take her out while posing as deliverymen.

Two Years Ago

After returning from Tracy's funeral, Aaron returns to drinking.

Now

When Aaron returns home, he quickly realizes that someone has abducted Tracy, and that Mike is involved.

Lloyd discusses more of his flashforward with Mark, and Mark reminds him that he said that D. Gibbon's lied. When Lloyd denies knowing D. Gibbons, Mark realizes that he was a liar and pressures him to confirm his statement that D. Gibbons was a liar.

Aaron goes to Mike's home and discovers that he's moving. Mike claims that his father offered him a job and Aaron congratulates him. He offers to take him out for lunch but as they drive, Aaron explains that he ended up in prison after killing a man in a bar fight. In prison he learned how to become an animal, but has had to control himself since he was released. Aaron admits that sometimes, he has to let it loose. He pulls over, takes out a knife, and attacks Mike. After a brief struggle, Aaron subdues Mike and demands answers. When Mike balks, Aaron threatens to break his arm.

Demetri visits Janis and tries to get her input on his situation with Zoey. Janis points out that Zoey is doing it out of love, and then mentions that she went to a fertility clinic to become pregnant. She explains that she convinced them to take her on as a client, and Demetri wonders if it's worth it given the chance she can be killed on the job. Janis explains that all she could think about is the baby ever since she was shot, and she doesn't want to lose that future. She tells him that they both need to fight for the future that they want, and tells him to dispose of Mark's gun once and for all.

At Mark's home, Lloyd explains that the man known as D. Gibbons is scientist Dyson Frost, who took credit for work that Lloyd did, despite the fact there was no way he could have learned about it. When Frost claimed it was his own work, Lloyd called him a liar. Now Frost is supposedly dead, but Lloyd figures the man faked his death. Mark wonders why Charlie said, "D. Gibbons is a bad man," but Lloyd denies telling her anything about him in his flashforward. Mark pursues the matter of what happened when Lloyd was abducted, and the scientist finally admits that he broke and told them everything they need to create a Blackout again. Mark asks Lloyd for his help in finding Frost before it's too late.

Once Mark is reinstated, he tells Stan and Vogel what has happened. According to Frost's file, he created a "mirror test" that determines recognition of consciousness among shared species. One of those species are crows. Mark says that hey need to use Red Panda to get into Somalia, but when Stan hesitates, Vogel says that they are better off getting forgiveness afterward than permission beforehand.

Aaron calls and asks Mark to find out what he can on James Erskine.

Erskine and his friends are having a birthday party for his daughter when the power goes out. Aaron is at the nearby transformer box, having cut the electricity. He comes in and says he's been sent to fix the problem, and Erskine goes with him.

Zoey goes to see the captive Herzog and tells her that she's going to help her save Demetri. When Herzog refuses, Zoey offers to represent her in return for the information. Herzog is skeptical, and Zoey asks if she was in prison in her flashforward.

As Aaron checks the house’s transformer box, he turns to Erskine and tells him that he’s there to find Tracy. Erskine claims he has no idea who Tracy is and Aaron threatens to go to war on him. The CEO says he’s ready, and Aaron warns him that he has nothing left to lose.

Vogel meets with Mark and tells him that he, Demetri, and Janis are going to Somalia. He orders Mark to stay in L.A. since his flashforward and everything Mark remembers is they key to them solving the mystery of Mosaic.

Before he leaves, Aaron has planted bugs on Erskine’s phone line. He listens in as Erskine calls his operative and confirms that Tracy has been sent to Kandahar. He then tells his man to order Mike to dispose of Aaron, and then returns to his daughter’s birthday party. Aaron hears Mike’s phone rings, and takes it to the back of his vehicle, where he tells the gagged and tied-up Mike that it’s his boss, ordering him to kill Aaron. He tells Mike that he’ll be doing something else instead.

Vogel informs Demetri and Janis that they’re going to Somalia to investigate the remaining tower that apparently caused the localized Blackout in 1991. The CIA has arranged for them to enter Somalia disguised as Red Panda humanitarian workers. Simon comes in and announces that he’s going with them, and warns that he’s the only one knowledgeable enough about the technology to evaluate it. Vogel warns him that Somalia is a war zone, but Simon insists.

When Zoey comes to get Demetri, he asks her what she’s doing. She explains that she made a deal with Herzog to represent her in return for her knowledge about Demetri’s death. Zoey admits that she’s scared, and Demetri embraces her. He says that everything will be okay and takes her with him to take care of something.

Aaron calls and leaves a message on Mark’s answering machine. He informs him that he won’t be around for a while and things have escalated, but he’s not going to lie down for Erskine and the others.

Erskine and his wife are cleaning up after his daughter’s birthday party. They discover Mike hanging upside down outside their window, the words “Happy Birthday” written on his chest.

Demetri and Zoey go to the FBI evidence room and Demetri completes the paperwork to have Mark’s gun destroyed. Zoey apologizes for being so forward and the couple embrace. However, the agent in charge returns with disturbing news: Mark’s gun has disappeared.
