• WARNER MUSIC CANADA SIGNS HUGH DILLON |
For immediate release
Warner Music Canada is thrilled to announce the signing of musician / actor Hugh Dillon to a multi-album record deal. The first album will be Dillon’s debut solo album Works Well With Others, scheduled to be released this Fall.
Hugh Dillon first earned notoriety in Canada and abroad as the lead-singer in the multi-platinum band The Headstones. Throughout their career The Headstones were a relentless touring machine whose live shows were near legendary thanks in large part to Dillon’s intense performances. But Hugh never let his antics get in the way of his songwriting which was always key to the band’s success. He has been praised as a brutally honest songwriter never afraid to tackle difficult or taboo subject matter.
For Works Well With Others, the rough around the edges Hugh that fans had come to know has given way to a more dapper Mr. Dillon. His penchant for screaming has been replaced by a more subtle sound incorporating a wider palette of styles while still showcasing his no holds barred lyrics.
It was early on in the bands six album career that director Bruce McDonald first noticed Hugh and cast him in his 1994 film Dance Me Outside. Next came his critically acclaimed performance as Joe Dick in McDonald‘s 1996 feature film Hard Core Logo.
The Genie nominated actor has since starred in the critically acclaimed Sundance Film Festival award winning movie Down to the Bone alongside Vera Farmiga (The Departed) as well as notable roles in feature films Lone Hero, Assault On Precinct 13, The Trailer Park Boys: The Movie and Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning.
In 2007 Hugh starred as Mike Sweeney in the dark and twisted serial Durham County. His performance as Ed Lane in the CBS/CTV co-production Flashpoint has introduced him to an even wider audience in the United States.
But for all of his acting, Dillon has never strayed far from his musical roots. He brings his music to whatever project he works on and original pieces have been included in Flashpoint, Durham County, The Trailer Park Boys: The Movie and the Jennifer Lynch-directed film Surveillance. Over the past few months Hugh has spent time in Kingston at The Tragically Hip’s Bathouse Recording Studio working for the Hip’s Paul Langlois who produced the tracks on Works Well With Others.
A full track listing and release date will be announced later this summer.
