Follow The Money - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Jason versus Ben, again as Jason relishes his opportunity to displace low income residents for his company's profit. When Ben asks if (Jason) thinks this is right, Jason replies, "they have the option to buy". While as he says this it looks as though he hears himself for the first time, he's still going to do it.

Ben runs into one of the editors at New York Magazine while getting his designer coffee and decides to pitch the redevelopment story. He's obviously uncomfortable with the thought of exposing Jason and perhaps ruining his career in order to pursue his own, but he rationalizes that he isn't going to name his source. When he tells Jason, the typical tension results. Who should sacrifice their career for the other? Should either of them have to sacrifice a career?
Jason takes to comfort eating cartons of ice cream and Ben ultimately decides not to write the story. Of course this ends with Jason not only cooperating with the story, but giving Ben documents to back it up. It's not a matter of careers, but a matter of doing what's right that drives these guys.
Until you get to Barry (Seth Green's character) who needs to at least watch My Name Is Earl to figure out why things are rarely as he expects.
When Bobby, who is a mirror of a 1960's hippie, is nice to an elderly neighbor, she offers him cash for company. He escorts her to various functions and they sincerely enjoy each others companionship. When one of her friends asks for an escort, Barry jumps at the chance. He had given Bobby a hard time initially, insisting the old lady would expect sex. After learning that she didn't, Barry had no reason to think his lady would. But this is Barry.
At the end of an evening where every word out of Barry's mouth is painfully wrong, but tolerated, his 'date' not only expects favors, but insists that she see what she's buying beforehand. Barry, unwilling at first, but not wanting to continue eating fish sticks ("they're like 99 cents a box"), begins unbuttoning his shirt.
The next morning at the communal breakfast, everyone is friendly again, but Barry's barely able to hold his coffee cup, his hands are shaking so badly, he seems just a bit off. Bobby says, "Well, you made $300 right?" to which Barry replies, "I only earned $75.00" and advises that no one will talk about this, "No one will ever talk about this".
