Friday Night Lights is the best drama series I've seen in a long time. I'm not a huge sports fan, but when I watch the series, I'm drawn to the action of the game and tend to be on the edge of my seat during the entire course of the game.
Starting with the pilot, I was blown away. The writing shines in every episode, and the actors do an amazing job in bring a sense of realism to every scene. Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton have great on-screen chemistry, both together as a couple and apart in their respective roles. Zach Gilford steals the scene as Matt Saracen and flawlessly portrays the struggles, both at home taking care of his grandmother, and on the field struggling to lead the Panthers in Street's absence. The cinematography gives the series a documentary feel, which makes you feel like you're getting an exclusive glimpse into the Panthers' hyped up football season.
I would highly recommend this show to anyone. After just one episode, you'll be hooked. It's hard not to get wrapped up in the lives of the Panthers, the coaches, and the entire town of Dillon. Even if you don't care for football, it'll make you fall in love with good television drama again. Friday Night Lights isn't just a show about football, it's a show about people in everyday America.
