But the sonogram turns sour when he discovers Carol and Susan plans for his unborn child. Meanwhile, Monica and Ross's parents are coming for dinner, sending Monica off to impress her overbearing mother, whilst Rachel comes face-to-face with her jilted fiancee for the first time since the wedding.

After Chandler sees Rachel in the shower, she tries to even the score by seeing him naked. But she accidentally sees Joey naked, who sees Monica naked, who sees Joey's father naked. Meanwhile, Joey's father moves in with him and Chandler after leaving Joey's mother for another women, and Joey is forced into a difficult position when his father's mistress also comes to stay, whilst the gang take a big disliking to Phoebe's irritating boyfriend Roger.
Joey falls in love with Ursula, Phoebe's estranged twin sister, which strains his friendship with Phoebe. Meanwhile, Chandler is instructed to fire a sexy employee. But he ends up dating her, and tells his boss that she is mentally unstable in order to keep her sweet, whilst Ross begins to doubt his parenting skills when he attends a Lamaze class with Carol and Susan.

Meanwhile, the gang are unsettled when a stranger across the streets begins watching their every move, which forces Joey to take actions, whilst Chandler becomes obsessive over a women who won't return his calls.

Meanwhile, Phoebe becomes Chandler's secretary and hits it off with his colleagues. But without drink, Fun Bobby turns into Dull Bobby as he becomes incredibly boring without drink, which causes Monica to hit the bottle herself. Elsewhere, Joey is offered a lead role in soap opera Days of Our Lives. But there's a condition - he must sleep with the castling lady.
Carol and Susan's wedding day approaches, with Monica put in charge of the catering. a troubled Ross announces he won't be attending. However, Carol's parents threaten the celebration when they refuse to accept their daughters sexuality, which forces Ross to intervene and finally face his feelings towards his ex-wife and his love-rival. Meanwhile, one of Phoebe's patients dies on her massage table and Phoebe is convinced her soul now inhabits her body, so she tries to make her dying wish come true. Richard is also invited, and Monica decides it's time to tell her parents of their romance, whilst Phoebe persuades Rachel to join her in getting a tattoo.
Chandler and Joey are struggling now that they don't live together, but neither will admit it. After a long phone conversation, Joey tells Monica and Phoebe he wants to move back in with Chandler. But when Rachel and Ross tell Chandler that Joey is happy in his new place, he gets a new roommate called Eddie. Meanwhile, Phoebe is discovered by a record producer who wants to make a music video of "Smelly Cat" and the gang are stunned by the result of the video. But the situation finally hits home when he goes from a main character of a hit TV show to a secondary cab driver, and worse still, he is left debt-ridden by the bank and may lose everything he owns. Elsewhere, Phoebe, Monica and Rachel become hooked on a women's book called "Be Your Own Wind-Keeper", so much that they begin turning on their men and each other.
When the gang watch Old Yeller, Phoebe discovers her mother never showed her the ends of sad movies to shield her from the pain, which makes Phoebe realise the harshness of children's movies and leaves her depressed. Meanwhile, Joey and Chandler take a liking to Richard after he takes them to a Knicks game in his Jaguar, so they try to be him by smoking cigars and growing a moustache. But Richard is hurt when Joey lets slip that he sees him more like a father than a friend. Elsewhere, Ross is upset that he is missing out on Ben's first things and demands his son for the weekend. But Rachel is not very good with babies and is freaked when she discovers Ross has mapped out their entire future.

Meanwhile, Joey's new role involes kissing a man, and he tries to get a reluctant Chandler and Ross to practice with him. Elsewhere, Chandler meets a mysterious women online and becomes obsessed with her. But everyone is shocked when she reveals herself to be a face from the past, whilst Monica and Richard face turmoil in their relationship with Monica raises the issue of children.

Monica isn't sleeping following her break-up with Richard and appears to be losing control. A worried Phoebe tries to help her receive closure from Richard. After she tells him that women tell each other everything, he tries it out on his friends, with disasterous results. Elsewhere, Chandler has fallen in love with his annoying ex, Janice. An aggravated Joey attempts to get rid of her. But when Janice discovers his problem, she takes him out for the day so that they can work through their differences.
Ross is taking the gang to a fundraising function where he is giving a speach. But none of them are ready: Chandler and Joey's battle over Monica's armchair spirals way out of control, Phoebe is having fashion troubles, Monica obsesses over a message on her answerphone by Richard, and Rachel refuses to attend the function when an erratic Ross yells at her.
Monica realises she needs a project to help her get over Richard, so she takes to making and selling tons of jam, much to Joey's delight. Realising her dream is to have a baby, she goes to a sperm bank to search for a sperm donar - and she is shocked when one of the potential donars turns out to be Joey. Meanwhile, Phoebe is being stalked by Malcolm, her twin sister's ex-boyfriend. Phoebe helps him to recover from his turbulent relationship with his estranged sister. But she soon begins dating him herself. Elsewhere, Chandler is taught "the rules of relationships" by Rachel and Ross after he accidentally upsets Janice.
After Phoebe manages to get him an audition that his agent Estelle didn't, Joey fires Estelle and appoints Phoebe as his manager. It's a success when Phoebe secures a bunch of auditions for him. But Phoebe's tough attitude and Joey's bad acting causes trouble. Meanwhile, Chandler is forced to face his commitment issues as he and Janice take their relationship to the next level. However, his attitude results in him losing her, so he calls upon Rachel and Monica for help and tries to change his ways to win her back. Elsewhere, Ross is worried that living with two lesbians will have an effect on Ben's manliness when he grows up when he catches his son playing with a barbie doll.
Phoebe is excited when her brother, Frank Jr, comes to visit, hoping that she and her long-lost brother can bond and make up for lost time. However, they don't appear to have much in common, and Phoebe finds it difficult to connect with him. Diaster strikes when Frank mistakes her massaging job for a massage parlour. Meanwhile, Joey becomes a handyman. He builds a new entertainment centre for his and Chandler's apartment and offers to re-tile Monica's bathroom floor, and Chandler and Monica clash over who's job Joey will finish first. Elsewhere, Ross obsesses over his list of famous people he would like to sleep with, and Rachel decides to have some fun when one of them turns up at the coffee house.
After Janice asks whether they’ve ever dated each other, the gang reminisce what their lives was like three years ago: It's the early 1990s, Phoebe is trying to move out of Monica's apartment without her knowing, Ross is still married to Carol. But their marriage hits troubled times when Carol meets Susan. Chandler is looking for a new roommate and must choose between an actor called Joey and a photographer called Eric, whilst Rachel is not part of the gang and is engaged to Barry. But she is freaked out about never sleeping with another man again.
Joey becomes a learning extension teacher in soap acting and loves the power and respect that teaching brings. His job is going well until he discovers one of his students has an audition for a part that he wants, so he sets out to elimate him by giving him bad advice. But he is shocked when he sees the effect. Meanwhile, Monica purchases a cheap bed from Janice's estranged husband. But Phoebe accidentally signs for a childish racecar bed instead. On their way to fix it, Monica and Joey catch Janice kissing her ex. Elsewhere, Ross is persuaded to join Rachel and her father for dinner. But the gang become suspicious Ugly Naked Guy is dead and construct a giant poking device with chopsticks to find out. Elsewhere, Monica accidentally bangs Ben's head whilst playing with him and she and Rachel try to hide it from Ross.
It's Thanksgiving, and the gang decide to have a game of football before dinner. However, sibling rivalry soon erupts between team captain Ross and Monica, dividing the guys and the girls. Joey and Chandler fall for a dutch girl, Margha, and their rivalry adds further friction to the game, whilst Rachel is excluded from the game because of her poor sports skills.

Out of guilt, he takes over her task of selling Christmas cookies as a Brown Bird in the hopes of winning her the first prize - a trip to Space Camp. Elsewhere, Phoebe efforts to stop Christmas trees being cut down and sold jepordise Joey's new job as a Christmas tree-seller.
At Joey's birthday party, a drunk Chandler fools around with one of Joey's sisters. But after drinking far too much, he cannot remember which one and accidentally tells Joey he wants to pursue a relationship with his sister. Things get out of hand when he pays a visit to Joey's family home, hoping to find the right sister and fix his mess. Meanwhile, Rachel hates her new job at Fortunata Fashion. Her mood soon changes when she meets a handsome stranger called Mark Robinson who offers her a job at Bloomingdale's. Rachel is delighted. But Ross is furious and is convinced Mark is trying to seduce his girlfriend, whilst Phoebe is seduced by Monica and Rachel's noisy upstairs neigbour.

Meanwhile, Joey gets a part in a musical called "A Tale Of Two Cities", having lied on his resume about his dancing skills. Chandler advises him to reject the job after seeing him dance. But Joey still attends. Things become difficult for Joey when the director instructs him to teach a complex dance sequence to the other dancers, whilst Monica is seduced by a handsome poet called Julio. But Phoebe soon discovers he is using a poem to secretly insult Monica, so the girls plot their revenge.
Monica is reunited with ex-boyfriend and love of her life Richard Burke. She is adamant that they are just going to be friends. But sexual tension soon intensifies and they end up in bed together. Although they embark on a casual fling, Monica begins treating him like her boyfriend again. After scuppering his chances at blind date, Monica and Richard face the inevitable. Meanwhile, Chandler and Ross befriend Phoebe's latest boyfriend, Robert, who seems really nice except for one thing - he wears a pair of very revealing shorts. Back at Monica's, the couple have a big fight, and when Ross once again brings Mark into the arguement, Rachel tells him that she wants a break from him. A troubled Ross heads off to get drunk with the boys and catches the eye of a beautiful women called Chloe, leading to an encounter that will have far-reaching consequences for him and Rachel. Meanwhile, Phoebe begins dating a Russian diplomate who can't speak a word of English, so she matchmakes Monica with a translator. But Phoebe focuses the attention on her and Sergei, causing the two friends to clash. Elsewhere, Chandler and Joey are convinced Chloe from a copying company wants to have a threesome with them.

Chandler in particular is struggling with the break-up as it reminds him of his parents traumatic divorce, so he begins smoking again. Things worsen when Rachel's sister invites the gang on a ski trip, and they are forced to leave Ross behind. With the others gone, Ross gatecrashes Carol and Susan's anniversary dinner. But disaster strikes when the gang are left stranded in the middle of nowhere.
Phoebe's brother Frank returns and announces he is getting married. She is horrified to discover his fiancee, Alice, is 26 years older than him and tries to break them up, recruiting Ross and Joey to help. However, this backfires when they become Frank's best men, so she decides to use Alice herself to change her brothers mind. Meanwhile, Monica goes on a date with a customer at the diner, who turns out to be Pete Becker, a billionaire. He is the perfect man: he's rich, funny and kind. But Monica is unable to find him attractive. Elsewhere, Rachel gives Chandler a hypnotic tape to help him quit smoking. But the tape has a very different
effect on him.

But Chandler suspects Joey secretly has feelings for Kate. Elsewhere, Monica continues to date Pete. But still doesn't find him attractive, even a trip to Paris fails to work.
Joey is falling for Kate, the only women never to like him back. When he discovers she is dating the director, he seduces her understudy. During a late night rehearsal, the sexual tension between the co-stars boils over. Meanwhile, Rachel sets her boss Joanna up on a date with Chandler. The gang, minus Phoebe, attend joey's play. But it recieves a terrible review. Joey is delighted when Kate breaks up with the director. However, his happiness is short-lived when Kate recieves a life-changing job offer in L.A. At the play, Ross is surprised when Rachel shows up with a man called Tommy, who turns out to be an aggressive bully who intimidates an elderly couple. But he only shows his true colours to Ross, and he must prove to Rachel and the others that he is telling the truth.
Monica is shocked by Pete's decision to become an ultimate fighting champion after learning the brutal ways of the game from the boys. She is fearful of what will happen next when Pete is brutally beaten in two fights and still wants to go on. Meanwhile, Phoebe sets Ross up on a date with her wild sex-obsessed friend Bonnie, and the pair hit it off. Elsewhere, Chandler's new boss Doug has an unusual symbolic method of congratulating him on his good work, which leaves him extremely uncomfortable.
After the robbery at his and Joey's, a downbeat Chandler reunites with Rachel's boss Joanna. Rachel fears history will repeat itself and have bad consequences for her, so she tries to get Chandler to break their romance off. However, Chandler ends up seduced by Joanna in her office. But disaster strikes when she accidentally drops a fingernail in one of the meals, whilst Joey hits it off with an encyclopedia salesman and develops a new interest in books.

But the gang discover he is not as talented as he makes out.
It's Thanksgiving, but Chandler doesn't have a lot to be thankful for as his kiss with Kathy has big consequences when Joey disowns him as a friend and moves out. After much plea for forgiveness, Joey decides to punish his best friend in a very odd way. Meanwhile, Monica damages her eye whilst cooking and goes to hospital, where she hits it off with Dr Timothy Burke, Richard's son, whilst Rachel and Ross clash once again when the gang decide to do "Secret Santa".
Chandler and Ross are excited to hear a party wizard from their school days is coming to visit and plan a wild weekend. But they soon learn they are not as wild as they once were. Elsewhere, Rachel is up for promotion. But her boss Joanna tries to sabotage it.

But Joey becomes strangely attached to the bag, whilst Chandler discovers Monica gives really bad massages and tries to hide it from her as she hates to fail at anything.

In Vegas, a hungover Ross and Rachel wake up in bed together and are horrified when they discover they are husband and wife. Rachel wants the marriage annuled. However, Chandler makes a different proposal that could also have a big impact on their future, whilst Phoebe and Joey take a road trip back to New York and pick up a hitch-hiker named Rick. But the two friends fall out when Joey leaves all the driving to Phoebe.
