Fringe: The Bishop Revival

When all of the groom's relatives asphyxiate at a wedding, the Fringe division investigates and quickly ascertain that a human agency is responsible. Walter realizes that the formula for the toxin was based on research conducted by his father, Robert Bischoff, and that the killer isn't stopping with a single test of his lethal concoction.

Episode Quotes
Walter: I kept my tuxedo in the hope that one day I would have a son who would wear it. You could wear it on your wedding day.
Peter: Yeah, you know, Walter? Tuxedo styles change.
Walter: Oh, nonsense. Purple never goes out of style.

Olivia: So he programmed the toxin to target whatever group he wants.
Walter: Any group with--with common physical characteristics or genetic similarities, yes. Um, tall people, short people, fat people, skinny people, black people, brown people, or white people...
Peter: Hey, Walter? We get it.

Episode Goofs
Although the toxin targets Walter based on his DNA, it doesn't affect Peter. This is understandable, given the character's hidden background. However, Olivia wouldn't know. And yet she never finds it unusual that Peter is immune to a poison tailored to Bishop DNA.

Episode References
The Observer can be seen as Hoffman talks to the mother and child. He's in the background, walking past them on the sidewalk outside the window.

Analysis
Hoffman uses hair samples from Walter's sweater to tailor his toxin to Walter's genetic characteristics. However, the toxin does not affect Peter. At first, this appears to be an error. However, upon further consideration, Peter's immunity is due to the fact that because he is from the alternate Earth, he is not an exact genetic match for this world's Walter.
