Mitchell Loeb leads a team of four men into the Philadelphia Mutual Savings Bank after killing the guard. They hang netting on the outside wall of the bank vault and activate a device hooked up to it. They then fire a grappling gun line through the wall, anchoring it inside the wall. One at a time, Loeb and two of the men pull themselves along the line and through the once-solid wall. As the device begins to exhaust its power, the three men blow open one drawer and remove the box within. One of the men attaches it to the line and pulls it out through the wall. The other man, Raul Lugo, discovers that the grappling cord is stuck. Under orders not to leave any trace behind, Raul tries to pull it free. With seconds remaining, Loeb goes outside. Raul frees the cord and goes through the wall... just as it resolidifies. Trapped halfway inside of the wall, Raul begs for help but Mitchell ruthlessly kills him with a bullet to the head.

The next day, Broyles calls the team in to investigate. There have been three similar bank robberies in different cites: in each case there was no breach in the vault walls and the thieves took a single safe deposit box. Broyles leaves to try and trace the owner(s) of the boxes, while Walter investigates the dead man. Surprisingly, Olivia recognizes the man, saying that she served with him in the Marines and has had dinner with him and his wife Susan at their home in Edison, NJ.

Mitchell and his men take the safety deposit box to a warehouse they're using as a base of operations. One of them, Eastwick, objects to leaving a man behind. Loeb tells him to either accept it and take his injection, or quit now. Eastwick and the others inject themselves with some substance.

At the Wissenschaft Prison in Germany, Mr. Jones meets with his lawyer, Kohl.

Peter and Walter go to a home improvement store to get a saw to cut up Raul's corpse. When Walter implies he's unhappy with Peter's lifestyle before joining the team, Peter tells him to stop and says that Walter has no basis or reason to criticize him or try and act like a father after being absent from Peter's life for 20 years. Walter lets Peter's criticism pass in silence and then asks the store clerk for a saw and describes what he needs it for.

Kohl discusses Jones' upcoming trial, noting the best he can hope for is life in prison. Jones, unconcerned, asks if his people gave Kohl any information to pass on. Kohl repeats their message that the Philadelphia job was successful. Jones has Kohl tell his people to wire more money to Mitchell along with the location of the next target. He also gives Kohl a list of items to have his people obtain, including suntan lotion and Dramamine. When Kohl wonders why he needs the items, Jones warns him not to ask questions. Jones then asks what Kohl's suit size is and offers him the address of his personal tailor to get a free suit as a thank you.

Olivia visits Susan Lugo and explains that Raul is dead. Susan admits that Raul left two years ago and she hasn't seen him since. She notes that after returning from the Gulf War, he suffers bouts of depression. Olivia talks about serving with Raul in the Marines and the time she had dinner with the Lugos. Susan doesn't remember ever meeting Olivia before, although it's clear Olivia knows her. Olivia describes everything that happened at the dinner and Susan admits it happened... but John Scott was the guest, not Olivia.

Back at the bank, Walter cuts off Raul's hand and apologizes about putting down Peter. He observes that Peter is capable of much more than he's demonstrated. Olivia arrives and Walter explains that whoever the thieves are, they have advanced knowledge of quantum physics, enough to create a device allowing them to pass through solid matter. Walter also notices that her pupils are dilated, indicating stress. She reluctantly admits that she's experiencing John's memories to the point where she can't differentiate them from her own. Walter, intrigued, resolves to investigate further.

At the warehouse, one of Mitchell's men cuts open the safety deposit box. Mitchell orders him out and opens it, and is satisfied with what's within.

In the secret basement laboratory of Massive Dynamic, Nina Sharp gets a report from the chief technician in charge of John Scott's corpse. She reports that they're unable to extract the necessary memories from John's brain. Nina warns that they're up against highly motivated individuals that are seeking the same thing, and they need John's memories.

At the Harvard lab, Walter pulls out an old box of toys and has Peter get him a beaker full of rice. Walter puts a toy soldier on top of the rice and demonstrates how vibrating the beaker can cause the toy to fall through the rice. He believes that the thieves used a high-frequency vibration device to destructure the vault walls and walk through them, but a side effect is radioactivity. Walter confirms that Raul's severed hand is radioactive. Olivia arrives with Broyles' information on the stolen boxes: they were all rented 25 years ago and they're unable to trace the owner. After putting out an alert for hospitals to report people with radiation sickness, she shows them a list of names Susan provided of people who knew Raul. One of them, Drew, works as a bartender in Cambridge. Olivia goes to talk to him and Peter tags along.

At the bar, Olivia passes herself and Peter off as brother and sister and claims that they knew Raul and met Drew at the Lugos' wedding. Drew accepts her story and notes that Raul hung out at a VA hospital a lot when he returned from the Gulf War. Satisfied, Olivia prepares to leave but Peter suggests they have a drink together.

Mitchell's remaining men wonder what he has planned, and one of them says he saw Mitchell going over a map of Germany. Mitchell comes in and tells them they're heading for Providence. As they leave, Eastwick's hands start shaking: a sign of radiation sickness.

Olivia and Peter demonstrate their mutual skill with card tricks. Olivia performs her trick by memorizing all the cards, and explains that ever since she was a child she could perfectly memorize long sequences of numbers. She gives some examples, including the numbers of the safety deposit boxes. Peter recognizes the numbers and takes her to his hotel room where Walter is sleeping. They wake Walter up and Peter notes that the numbers are the same ones Walter recites to get to sleep. Walter explains that they're a Fibonacci sequence, and realizes that the boxes belong to him. He explains that before the accident in the lab, he suffered from bouts of paranoia and hid things, making sure no one could find them. They got to FBI headquarters but Walter isn't able to provide any useful information on where he might have hid the boxes 20 yeas ago. Broyles confirms which VA hospital that Raul was at but the logs sow he never had any visitors. Olivia figures that someone among the patients must have recruited him.

The chief technician at Massive Dynamic calls in Nina and informs her that they've determined from accessing John's memories that he was with Olivia as he died. They conclude there was a memory transfer and Olivia holds the memories they need.

Olivia visits the VA hospital and talks to the attending physician, Dr. Miller. He doesn't want to violate doctor-patient confidentiality and tells her to come back in the morning after he's thought about it. As she leaves, an orderly approaches Olivia and says he knows that Raul played chess with four other men, and provides her with the names. The FBI determines that all four men have since disappeared and now have tickets leading to a Providence airport. Walter doesn't remember a bank in Providence, but Peter manages to get him to remember it obliquely by asking which bank would have met Walter's criteria. Charlie and Olivia order a lockdown and go to the bank in Providence. The safety deposit box with the next number in the Fibonacci sequence is gone and there's no sign of a break-in. The manager explains that there's no easy access from the outside but Olivia figures the thieves came through the floor. She and Charlie head for the nearest sewer exit just as Mitchell and his team are leaving. Eastwick is left behind and runs after their van, but Olivia brings him down with a leg shot.

Mitchell and his two remaining men return to the warehouse, and they demand to know what is so valuable it's worth one man's death and Eastwick's capture. Mitchell shows them the contents of the last box: a projector-like device. He then calls his employers and tells him that "he" is coming tonight.

Kohl visits Jones and gives him the items he requested. Jones tells him to come back the next day and he'll sign all the necessary papers to file an appeal as Kohl wants him to. Jones comments on Kohl's suit, which Kohl explains is one of his own. Seemingly disappointed Kohl didn't take him up on his offer of a free suit, Jones suggests that he wear a similar suit when he comes back. He also tells Kohl to pass on a message that he needs one more item: Olivia Dunham.

Olivia interrogates Eastwick without success. Peter, watching with Charlie, asks for permission to try. Olivia agrees and Pete informs Eastwick that he has radiation poisoning and if he doesn't provide them with information, they'll withhold treatment. Eastwick breaks down and explains he was hired along with the others, and they have no idea who they're working for. All he knows is that Mitchell now has all the safety deposit boxes and is heading for Westford. Olivia checks a map and sees an old abandoned airstrip named "Little Hill." She recognizes the name as the one that Smith gave to Jones in return for the cure for Mitchell's heart-parasite.

The FBI mobilizes and heads for Little Hill. At the lab, Peter and Walter go through Walter's old files. Walter suddenly remembers that when Peter was a boy, he contracted hepea, a rare form of bird flu. He was desperate for a cure and finally determined that a doctor in 1936 had managed to cure the disease. To access the doctor, who died years later, Walter explains that he built a device capable of pulling anything through time and space. However, before he could test it, Peter recovered and Walter broke the device up into four parts and hid them.

Olivia is driving her own SVU to Westport when two black SVUs cut her off and drive her off the road. She tries to run but they quickly bring her down with a tranq gun.

Kohl visits Jones in his cell. As Kohl gets out the appeal papers, Jones breaks the lawyer's neck, then strips him naked and puts on his suit. He then takes the Dramamine, covers himself in suntan lotion, and puts drops in his eyes. Finally he moves to the corner of the cell and waits.

Mitchell and a team of surveyors set up the four devices while carefully checking latitude and longitude. They lay down a circle of some glasslike substance and activate the device. A column of light shoots up... and Jones appears in the center of it.

Broyles calls Nina, who is in London, and accuses her of abducting Olivia. Nina says she wasn't involved.

Jones steps out of the teleport circle and asks if they have what they need. Mitchell informs him that they have captured Olivia.
