Episode discussion for: 04x10 | Forced Perspective (Jan 27, 2012)

I'm confused. - just what is Peter trying to do ??

How I understand things is this: Two universes, Peter, Olivia and Faulivia. There universes were going to destroy each other so this machine was built, powered by Peter, to fix things. Machine gets turned on, universes fixed, but Peter is removed from timeline. So now Olivia and Faulivia have no memory of Peter, had no experiences with Peter. The somehow Peter appears.. or rather he returns to the universe he used to exist in, but as his life was removed from this universes timeline no-one knows him. OKl, then.

So what the hell is Peter trying to do now. There's all this talk of helping him return to his people, of exiting this universe. But his people don't exist anymore, they are the people all around him along with Olivia in this universe, it's just that now they never knew him cos he was removed from the timeline. It's not like there is a 3rd universe where 'his' people, the ones who know him, exist.

So again, what the hell is Peter trying to do ?????????

The theory is that there is an "original timeline", presumably under the theory that diversions in time create alternate/parallel universes. So the time track where Peter originally exists, still exists. He has simply been thrown into another timeline/parallel universe where he didn't exist. (Which in turn is connected to a third alternate timeline/parallel universe where he also didn't exist.) He's simply trying to return to his original timeline/parallel universe, which still exists.

This is kind of implied by what the Observer says about Olivia, that she "dies" in every timeline. They all exist out there, somewhere, including Peter's.

So turning the machine on created a new timeline with these new duo-universes where Peter didn't exist ?! - ok, with you on that.

But wouldn't that mean the original duo-universes where Peter did exist continued, after the machine was switched on, continued with Peter STILL in existence.

And if THAT'S true, then what's all this plot thing with Peter "being drawn into" the new-duo-universe timeline ? From watching the show, he appeared to be in like some kinda limbo land, trying to make a connection with Walter and Olivia, succeeding in making the connection, and then finally being drawn out of limboland into their universe. BUT if the original duo-universes carried all (after machine switched on) all fine and dandy with Peter there (similarly all fine and dandy) does THIS mean that the Peter "drawn in from limboland" is actually ....

a NEW-PETER.....

We don't know what happened to the original timeline(s), or what will happen when Peter returns to them.
