|
The Planet Express crew receives a package to deliver to the moon's amusement park. Fry can't wait to spend the day there at Luna Park, so the crew begrudgingly caters to his excitement needs. Leela even takes him on the Lunar Rover ride for a chance to see the real moon, but this proves to be unsatisfying. Fry derails the car from its track to really experience the moon, but the two run into some unexpected trouble. Meanwhile, Bender gets thrown out of Luna Park and runs into some trouble of his own with a farmer's robot daughters.

| Opening title: In Hypno-vision
| Opening theme cartoon: Baby Bottleneck
| Alien code: While on the moon in the amusement park, a pink sign in Alien Code #1 appears behind Bender. It reads "Tasty human burgers."
| The original cold opening (the scene before the opening credits) featured the original Planet Express ship captain, Captain Cameron. He got angry with the new crew members and then immediately died.
| In the original storyboards, those ingested by the Horrible Gelatinous Blob dissolved into skeletons instead of remaining intact, but the animators were asked to tone it down.
| In an early draft, after Fry questions the existence of giant birds, the Professor puts on a hat with a giant bird feather in it instead of preparing breakfast from giant bird eggs.

| There was a cut scene in which Bender hid within the whalers on the moon and hit on a lady robot passing by.
| In the original script, Fry and Leela found Neil Armstrong's head at the moon landing site, and he helped them escape.
| As Fry and Leela leave the landing site, there's a sign that says "Lander returned to this site by the Historical Sticklers Society." This was added at the last minute when it was remembered that the original lander was blasted off the moon when the astronauts left.

| "The Eagle has landed."
The episode title, "The Series Has Landed," is a reference to the phrase that Neil Armstrong stated when the lunar module, the Eagle, landed on the moon in 1969.
| Cap'n Crunch and Count Chocula
Fry complains about his difficult adjustment to the 31st century, and Leela then offers him Admiral Crunch and Archduke Chocula cereals. These are parodies of the above cereals, respectively.
| "The happiest place on earth."
Amy proclaims that Luna Park is "the happiest place orbiting earth." The Walt Disney theme parks are often labeled as being "the happiest place on earth."
| A Trip to the Moon
When Bender shoves his bottle in Craterface's eye, the image is a reference to this 1902 Georges Méliès film. In the film, a group of travelers go to the moon, and their can-shaped spaceship lands in the moon's eye.
| Main Street, U.S.A.
The characters walk through Moon Street U.S.A., similar to Disney's Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom.
| Club 33
When Bender first meets the mascot Craterface, a sign on the wall reads "33 1/2." This is a reference to the exclusive Club 33 at Disneyland.
| Pirates of the Caribbean
The crew rides Whalers of the Sea of Tranquility; they are surrounded by singing whalers. This is similar to Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Riders travel on a boat through changing scenes as animatronic pirates sing "Yo Ho."
| Country Bear Jamboree
Animatronic gophers tell jokes in the Goophy Gopher Revue. This is similar to the Country Bear Jamboree, where animatronic bears perform country music.
| Spaceship Earth
Fry and Leela take a ride on Destination Moon, which showcases the history of lunar exploration. This ride is similar to the Epcot Center ride Spaceship Earth, which showcases the history of communication.
| Destination Moon
The attraction is also the title of this 1950 film about the first trip to the moon.
| The Honeymooners
Fry and Leela come upon a spoof of this 1955 show. Jackie Gleason's character, Ralph, used to threaten his wife Alice with the line, "One of these days, Alice, Bang! Zoom! Straight to the moon!" and other similar warnings.
| Pink Floyd
Fry spouts the line, "Cool, dark side of the moon!" as nightfall approaches. The song playing in the background is an homage to Pink Floyd, who released a CD entitled Dark Side of the Moon.
| MTV
When Fry sees the American flag outside of the landing site, he says, "It's that flag from MTV!" When this television network launched in 1981, its very first images included a montage of the moon landing; the American flag had been replaced by the MTV logo.
