Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones

Seven noble families fight for control of the mythical land of Westeros. Political and sexual intrigue abound. The primary families are the Stark, Lannister, and Baratheon families. Robert Baratheon, King of Westeros, asks his old friend Eddard Stark to serve as his chief advisor. Eddard, suspecting that his predecessor had been murdered, accepts so that he can investigate further. It turns out more than one family is plotting to take the throne. The Queen's family, the Lannisters, may be hatching an incestuous plot to take control. Across the sea, the last surviving members of the previously deposed ruling family, the Targaryens, are also plotting a return to power. The conflict between these families and others, including the Greyjoys, the Tullys, the Arryns, and the Tyrells, leads to war. Meanwhile, in the north, an ancient evil awakens. Amidst war and the political confusion, a brotherhood of misfits, The Night's Watch, is all that stands between the realms of men and the horrors beyond. (Source: HBO)

Is this the real life, or is this just fantasy?Rating: 2 likes, 1 dislikes

Game of Thrones is, in my opinion, probably the best fantasy television show ever produced.
The character development, the plot development, the cinematography, the acting and writing...all are top notch. They manage to juggle the massive amount of story lines with deft ease and skill, never making you feel as if they rush through things. You love, hate, or empathize with each character at a level not common with television programs. This is one of very few truly brilliant shows. Read more

3x7: The Bear and the Maiden Fair recap: The episode begins and the Wildlings have scaled the wall and are now on their way to Castle Black. Although the Warg is skeptical of Jon Snow's allegiances and perhaps even lineage, it seems he also carries a torch for Ygritte. When he professes his love for her and points out that Jon Snow's beauty won't matter when she knows what he is, she doesn't budge. She's all in on Jon Snow and when he melts down pointing out that every time the Wildlings have attacked throughout the centuries, they have failed, she doesn't care, saying this time will be different because Mance Rayder is different... read more.

3x6: The Climb recap: The episode begins and Samwell and Gilly are deep in the woods huddled around a fire. He shows her an ancient dagger he found. He says it's just a few more days walk to the wall and it's even bigger than they say; 700 feet high. He notes Castle Black is nice enough with a 24/7 fire and a tasty venison stew. She asks him to sing her a song and he sings her a lullaby like song. Elsewhere, also in a forest, Osha and Meera argue with each other about the proper way to skin a rabbit. Bran asks them to stop fighting, saying they have to stay united in order to make it to the wall. He asks them to make peace and grudgingly they do... read more.

3x5: Kissed by Fire recap: The episode begins with Beric Dondarrion asking the Lord of Light to cast his light upon them and show him the truth. Beric asks the Lord of Light to give him wisdom. He is going to fight the Hound, because the Hound has chosen trial by battle. The Hound and Beric fight it out. Eric’s sword is on fire as he aggressively attacks the Hound and the people chant that the Hound is guilty. Things do not go well for Beric and the Hound kills him. Arya grabs a knife and tries to get to the Hound. They hold her back and she screams for the Hound to burn in hell. She is told by Beric, who is alive, that he will, but not today... read more.

3x4: And Now His Watch is Ended recap: The episode begins and Jamie has been put on a course with his hand hanging from his neck. Brienne tells their tormentors that Jamie is going to fall and beseeches them to help him. Soon after, Jamie falls off his horse in a pile of mud and begs for water. They pour it on his head and while he drinks the water, the man pouring it mocks him, saying he has never seen anyone drink horse piss that fast. Despite losing his hand, Jamie grabs one of the men’s swords and tries to fight back, but he cannot with his left hand. Brienne tries to help him, but the man overpowers Jamie and tells him if he tries it again he will cut his other hand off... read more.

3x3: Walk of Punishment recap: The episode begins with Robb Stark and Catelyn at the funeral of Lord Hoster Tully. After Edmure Tully tries to hit the boat containing the body with a burning arrow but keeps failing, his uncle, Brynden Tully ‘the Blackfish’, pushes him aside and shoots an arrow, setting the boat afire. After the funeral, Edmure brags to Rob about taking an old Mill, but Robb is not impressed. Edmure argues that he took hostages, the Lannister cousins, but Robb points out they are not of as equal value as his sisters. He is also not happy that they lost many men, which they need more of, than Tywin does... read more.
