The episode begins in Renly's camp; Catelyn tells Renly that Robb Stark has no interest in the Iron Throne. Renly says the Starks can have dominion over the North if they swear the same oath of fealty that Ned did. In return, Renly promises to defeat Stannis' army in the morning. Catelyn asks him again to try to negotiate a peace with Stannis. He won't hear it. He tells her to take his terms to Robb. There's a wind at the tent door and Melisandre's evil black spirit offspring comes in and stabs Renly in the back. He drops to the ground, dead. Guards rush in and, thinking Brienne did it, attack her. She fights them off and then collapses crying over his body. Catelyn tells her to leave, warning her they'll hang her. "You can't avenge him if you're dead," she says. ..

Episode Quotes
Protestor: Brother fornicates with sister in the bed of kings. Are we surprised when the fruit of their incest is rotten? Yes. A rotten king.
Tyrion Lannister: It's hard to argue with his assessment.
Bronn: Not after what he did to your birthday present.
Tyrion Lannister: The king is a lost cause. It's the rest of us I'm worried about now.

Jaqen H'ghar: A man pays his debts. A man owes three.
Arya Stark: Three what?
Jaqen H'ghar: The Red God takes what is his, my lovely girl, and only death may pay for life. You saved me and the two I was with. You stole three deaths from the Red God. We have to give them back. Speak three names and a man will do the rest. Three lives I will give you, no more, no less. And we're done.
Arya Stark: I can name anyone? And you'll kill him?
Jaqen H'ghar: A man has said.

Tywin Lannister: And what do they say of Robb Stark in the North?
Arya Stark: They call him the Young Wolf.
Tywin Lannister: And?
Arya Stark: They say he rides into battle on the back of a giant direwolf. They say he can turn into a wolf himself when he wants. They say he can't be killed.
Tywin Lannister: And do you believe them?
Arya Stark: No, my lord. Anyone can be killed.

Margaery Tyrell: He was very handsome.
Petyr Baelish: He was, Your Grace.
Margaery Tyrell: Your Grace? Calling yourself king doesn't make you one, and if Renly wasn't a king, I wasn't a queen.
Petyr Baelish: Do you want to be a queen?
Margaery Tyrell: No, I want to be the queen.

Ser Jorah Mormont: You have a good claim. A title, a birthright. But you have something more than that. You may cover it up and deny it, but you have a gentle heart. You would not only be respected and feared, you would be loved. Someone who can rule and should rule. Centuries come and go without a person like that coming into the world. There are times when I look at you, and I still can't believe you're real.

Daenerys Targaryen: When my dragons are grown, we will take back what was stolen from me and destroy those who wronged me! We will lay waste to armies and burn cities to the ground!
