Elisa is determined to catch Xanatos. She chases him in a helicopter with Derek, her brother, who dismisses her dismay with Xanatos. Meanwhile, at he Diamond Exchange, Jackal and Hyena are about to steal Coyote Diamond. However, Xanatos beats them to it... and buys it. They still steal it from Xanatos and head off to the rooftop. There, their escape plan is momentarily thwarted by Derek, who shows up in the chopper to bring them in. Jackal shoots him with a bazooka, but, thanks to Xanatos, he only blasted the rear rotor. Xanatos is impressed by Derek’s skills in landing a defective chopper and offers him a job. This doesn’t please Elisa, especially when Derek considers accepting it...

Episode Notes

It is revealed that Jackal and Hyena are siblings.

Lexington manifests interest in technology.

Goliath's speech about his rookery brothers being dead (see quote), foreshadows the events of the next episode.

Xanatos's retreat in upstate New York is called Xanadu.

Jackal and Hyena are arrested. Now, Dingo is the only Pack member on the loose.

Xanatos's retreat is called Xanadu. In the potential spinoff, Gargoyles 2198, it would have been revealed that a gargoyle clan in China would have been known as the Xanadu Clan. Whether or not that's a coincidence remains to be seen...

Episode Quotes

Xanatos: Never a gargoyle around when you need one, huh?

Derek: Uh-uh, sis. I've no doubt you can find a snitch who'll tell me that Xanatos is the Prince of Darkness.
Elisa: He practically is!

Fox: He wants your brother. And what David Xanatos wants, he gets.
Elisa: So, why are you telling me all of this? Na-huh, because he left you to rot in jail.
Fox: You haven't got a clue. You're so far behind him it's pathetic. He told me to tell you. He doesn't have to hide his plans from you. There's not a thing you can do to stop him. He's the most brilliant man on the face of the earth.

Broadway: Are you sure you can fly this?
Lexington: It's just like the simulator game back at the tower.
Brooklyn: Famous last words...

(About Lex's modified helicopter)
Broadway: Thing looks like a flying junk pile!
Lexington: Yeah? I suppose if you'd designed it, it'd be covered with food.

Goliath: (to Elisa and Derek) You don't know how lucky you are to have siblings to fight with. All of my rookery brothers are dead. And there is nothing, nothing more important than family.

Cultural References

Title: Her Brother's Keeper

This title is a paraphrase of a saying from the Bible's story of Cain and Abel. After Cain had murdered his brother Abel, God asked him the whereabouts of his brother and Cain answered: "I know not; am I my brother's keeper?" (Hebrew Cain, in Genesis, 4:9).

Brooklyn: Yeah, use The Force, Lex!

This line is obviously a spoof of the same repeated line from the Star Wars movies.

Brooklyn: Yeah, you and what Starfleet?

In Star Trek, Starfleet is the military and exploration corps of the United Federation of Planets. It consists of many branches, namely: Starfleet Command, Starfleet Intelligence, Starfleet Medical, Starfleet Academy, Starfleet Engineering Corps and Section 31.

Lexington modified helicopter

Lexington modified helicopter's scalloped wings and heavy armory bear some resemblance to it the Batman movies and TV series.
