Episode Quotes
Elisa: Well, you know Matt. Maybe he took personal time to look for Bigfoot or something.

Broadway: So, Matt's missing, huh?
Elisa: The way you were glued to the TV, I'm surprised you could hear me.
Broadway: Ears like these don't miss much.

Broadway: You made one mistake, Dracon. You messed with my partner.
Dracon: Not you guys again.
Broadway: When someone messes with your partner, you're supposed to do somethin' about it.

Episode Goofs
On Matt's piece of paper from his calendar that Elisa reads from in this episode, there is absolutely no writing on it -- not even marks or scratches; it's completely blank.

Cultural References
Elisa: Well, you know Matt. Maybe he took personal time to look for Bigfoot or something.

The Bigfoot is presumed to be a large primate which inhabits the backwoods of the US Pacific Northwest and southwestern Canada. The Native Americans call it Sasquatch. There has been a huge fuss around the myth of the Bigfoot just like UFOs and conspiracy theories, something that Matt is particularly obsessed with.

Martin Hacker: He called me last week with a lead on the Illuminati Society. Well, according to Matt, it's a secret organization that's so powerful that it's supposed to be running the world.

The 'real' Illuminati Society was founded by Adam Weishaupt in Bavaria on May 1, 1776. However, it was shut down within a few years by the authorities. Many well-known figures in Europe at the time (such as Goethe and Mozart) are said to have been interested in it and perhaps even members. Rumor had it that the Bavarian Illuminati survived and caused the French Revolution to help them achieve some evil purpose.

The Illuminati is considered by a significant number of people to be a secret force that has created or taken over groups and organizations to manipulate the world as they please. It is also believed to be part of a global elite described as the New World Order.

Broadway: When someone messes with your partner, you're supposed to do somethin' about it.

Broadway is paraphrasing Sam Spade from Dashiell Hammett's novel, The Maltese Falcon. This is Spade's rationale for hunting down the killers of his partner, Miles Archer - with whose wife Spade was having an affair - in the novel. The actual quote goes something like: "When someone kills your partner, you're supposed to do something about it. It doesn't matter what you think of him; you're supposed to do something about it."

Episode References
"Deadly Force"

In the beginning of this episode, Elisa locks her gun in a box due to the circumstances of the aforementioned episode.

Analysis
Matt "Mulder" Bluestone

Matt Bluestone is slowly shaping up a Fox Mulder-like character. At the beginning of the episode Elisa tells Chavez: "Well, you know Matt. Maybe he took personal time to look for Bigfoot or something". And we learn from Hacker that he was booted from the FBI for having obsessive beliefs in secret societies and other weird stuff.
