Greg Weisman stated that the "healing" ability of the Coldsteel and Coldfire robots is related to the nanotechnology of the Matrix (cf. "Walkabout").

Plot

This episode shares a few similarities with the Star Trek episode "Return to Tomorrow." In that episode, three aliens (two male and one female) "borrow" the bodies of three Enterprise crew members, two of them are lovers and the third is a jealous outsider. The consciousnesses have to be willingly accepted by the hosts but are difficult to pry out, and in both episodes there's an ongoing element of mystery and doubt to as who's got whose consciousness.
