Gastineau Girls Episode Guide

1 :01x01 - Home, Sweet Home?

First aired: Feb/15/2005

Meet the Gastineau Girls. No, they're not sisters. They're a mother-daughter duo of New York socialites who are best friends--and sometimes each other's biggest competition.

Lisa, the mother, is a former model who made mad money in a divorce settlement with NFL star hubby Mark Gastineau (and invested rather well afterward, thankyouverymuch). Brittny, the daughter, hasn't worked a day in her life. She lived with her grandmother after her parents' divorce and is now moving back to her mother's NYC pad after leaving college in Alabama.

They're both looking for fame, fortune, happiness and true love--not really in that order. Good thing there's Luo the doorman-commentator to help guide us through the girls' adventures, because in the first episode alone, the mom and daughter pose for a naked photo shoot, have a surprise birthday party for Lisa and, oh yeah, shop a lot.

2 :01x02 - Race to Midnight

First aired: Feb/15/2005

Why worry about apartment hunting and getting a job when there's New Year's to celebrate in Aspen. The girls go there every year. It's just your average trip of running into your ex-boyfriend, a couple of tiffs between mother and daughter, fur-coat shopping and plenty of champagne. We learn that Brittny loves jewelry as much as her mom and drops a bit of cash on a sweet piece of ring bling. There goes any future rent money...

But just because they look good doesn't mean they know where they're going. While looking for a party at their friend's house, the girls accidentally break into the wrong place. The alarm goes off and off go the girls.

And their big New Year's Eve plan? Well, they get stuck on a gondola while heading to an exclusive bash and end up spending the magic moment together. They finally do get to the celebration...just a year late.

3 :01x03 - In the Doghouse

First aired: Feb/22/2005

Harsh realities are setting in just as Brittny is getting settled in. She wants to be a model, so she meets with Douglas Ash, part of the celebrity division of Elite Models. He tells her that she's gotta work out more (especially with personal-training guru Radu), lose some of the makeup and cut her hair. Ouch! Will she ever be able to earn enough cash to rent the $10,000 a month apartment that she just loves?

Lisa, an aspiring on-air entertainment reporter, is also looking for a job and quickly realizes that she's not cut out for the working world after chatting with a career counselor.

But there are bigger problems: Buck, Brittny's big retriever, is freaking out Harry, Lisa's little Chihuahua. So, they call in a "bispecies therapist," who claims to talk to the animals. Even the Gastineaus can't believe this. It's feeling really crowded in the New York apartment, and Brittny knows that she's got to be on the move soon.

4 :01x04 - Paradise Lost

First aired: Mar/01/2005

The new year doesn't start off all that great: Brittny is fighting with her ex-boyfriend and getting a massive stomachache (over the stress, says mom). The remedy? Some clothes shopping for the dogs and a jaunt to Palm Beach, Florida, naturally.

But, as we all know, Palm Beach is for old folks, and Brittny is instantly bored. The absence of a minibar sends the girls overboard, and they head to nearby Miami. The action's hotter there: The duo even get picked up by a nice guy, Clayton, who hooks them up with some cool clothes and a night on the town. Even though he has eyes for Brittny, nice guys still finish last in this case.

All of the vacationing has taken its toll: Both of the girls are sick and finish their days in Florida with a lazy walk on the beach. Will things finally slow down and get to normal for these gals? If you think so, you're as thick as a Miami guy named Clayton.

5 :01x05 - Bahama Mama

First aired: Mar/15/2005

Lisa's friend Shelia has a sweet yacht and a really good idea: Get the girls to the Bahamas for some fun in the sun and a photo shoot for Brittny's modeling portfolio. They all head down to Paradise Island and kick things off with a fun night of gambling. Lisa, naturally, finds a lucky charm in a hunky guy sitting next to her.

The next day, while Lisa & Co. are eying the ship's first mate, Brittny is getting ready for her closeup. But when the photographer asks her to pose in her bikini, the self-conscious Brittny clams up. It takes some encouraging, but soon she's working it like a supermodel.

Once the pictures as snapped, the ladies, well, go shopping! They also take in an afternoon of swimming with dolphins. While Lisa is initially frightened, she eventually joins in on the porpoise-y good times. But, again, Brittny lets her fear win out and doesn't get in the water. When will she stop holding herself back?

6 :01x06 - Model Citizens

First aired: Mar/22/2005

After their third winter vacation, the ladies are back in the city. Fashion Week is coming up, and Brittny needs to make a good impression if she's ever going to make it at this modeling thing. But she hasn't done much to get to her goal: no haircuts, no workouts, nada.

And she's still a slob at home. So, after reclaiming her clothes, Lisa locks Brittny out of her room (literally) with a deadbolt and chain. But that's not the worst. Radu has dumped Brittny because she's lazy, and the Elite modeling people are getting concerned.

Brittny realizes that if she's gonna make it, she has to put in a lot more effort. So, she gets Radu to take her back, hits the gym, cuts her hair and works with a runway trainer. The episode ends with Brittny, on the arm of a male model, attending an important party and properly networking. Hmmm, maybe she can get the hang of this after all.

7 :01x07 - Working Girls

First aired: Mar/29/2005

Vacation time is over (for now), and the Gastineau gals are ready to work. But is the working world ready for them?

Aspiring model Brittny hits the town and visits designers, hoping to get a runway gig during Fashion Week. Some of it doesn't go so well, but her book is taking shape and, after a bit of training, her walk is getting fierce. Designer Anne Bowen likes what she sees and picks Britt for her catwalk. It will be Brittny's first runway job!

Lisa, in pursuit of becoming the next Joan Rivers and/or Oprah, works on her delivery with some media trainers and starts to really get the hang of it. And on her big night, Brittny totally works it. Anne Bowen is happy. Lisa is proud. And Brittny is officially a runway model.

Now will she move out on her own?

8 :01x08 - L.A. Women

First aired: Apr/05/2005

The consummate New Yorkers are off to the left coast for Oscar week. This is the girls' chance to get their gorgeous mugs in front of the right people, the right designers and the right TV cameras.

The week involves a whole lotta prep: Lisa gets her red carpet bling in order and scores a stunning dress from designer Anne Bowen (which is perfect, until she hears that Kate Bosworth is wearing the same thing, forcing a last minute switcheroo). Brittny even gets a "diamond therapy" session, which uses $6 million of the beauties. She needs to relax after meeting with reps from Ford Models.

Sparkling and looking good, the girls appear on E!'s live Academy Awards pre-show. But Lisa's sheer new dress threatens a wardrobe malfunction, so she covers her booty with a wrap--a move that she later learns didn't please the designer at all!

They work it on TV (for the most part) and hit up the after-parties. Los Angeles has been good to the Gastineaus (with a little drama, naturally). So much so, in fact, that Brittny ponders moving west. But will mom be able to handle life without her little girl?

9 :01x09 - Looking for Love

First aired: Apr/12/2005

Brittny and Lisa have been so focused on their could-be careers that they've barely had time for their love lives. Looking for guys at parties, like the opening of a salon, haven't produced any results. So, the duo (Brittny does so reluctantly) turns to a matchmaker.

Brittny proves to be a tough cookie. She shoots down Devon, who deserves it, because he keeps talking about his ex-girlfriend. She then shoots down Mike even before things can get going. Ironically, she gets word that she's made the Maxim Hot 100 List. What's a Hot 100 girl to do in the heart department? Who knows.

Lisa is a little more up for the experience, even if her first date, Jeffery, annoyingly flaunts his big, uh, wallet. Sparks fly while munching with hunky baseball player Joe (and we all know that Lisa likes ballplayers), but she cuts it short for a date with Glenn. Too bad she's pals with Glenn's ex-wife! Whoops!

After a few dating rounds, a psychic tells the girls that their heartaches have a chance of being resolved. So, even though they might not have a man on their respective arms (yet), the gals end the episode with at least an armful of hope.

10 :01x10 - Destiny Calls

First aired: Apr/19/2005

So, the Gastineau Girls have gone months pursuing separate careers and separate men. There have been ups and downs, but things are finally looking pretty great for the both of 'em.

Aspiring model Brittny learns that Los Angeles designer Ed Hardy might want her as the face of his biker chic fashion line. So, she quickly hops on a plane for a meeting in sunny California. Using her training and experience as a model--and her natural charm--she wins them over and gets an offer. Brittny even gets a $20,000 good-faith check (her first payment for modeling!) as an incentive to relocate to the West Coast.

Back in the Big Apple, Lisa is fulfilling her dream of becoming an entertainment broadcaster by hosting Full Frontal Fashion's red carpet coverage of a diamond event. She's totally on and nails it. Things don't quite go as smoothly when she attempts to cook for another date with Joe the ballplayer (after all, Lisa hasn't cooked in years). But who needs a stove where there's this much heat between the two? The evening ends with a bit of smooching. That's pretty good for dessert, huh?

But with new opportunities come change: Brittny breaks the news to her mom that she's heading out west. Over some tears, the two Gastineaus look forward to continuing their quests for fame, love and fortune--separately.

This helps the girls score a deal with AOL to host their own podcast. But that doesn't mean everything's just peachy.
