However, when she contacts the soldier's son about his father, he thinks Melinda is trying to scam him and now Melinda must find a way to help both father and son find closure.

When her attempt fails, Melinda must figure out a way to make amends with his estranged wife and son so he can cross over and detach himself from Jim.

Faced with the challenge of trying to interpret "white noise," Melinda must figure out a way to piece together the messages from the mother and effectively communicate them to her son so she can cross over.

In an effort to make amends between the bride and her fiancé, Melinda tries to straighten out any doubts that the young bride has while giving closure to the spirit bride so she can cross over.

Now Melinda must broker a peace between them before the mother can cross over.

One comic in particular stands out, as he is troubled and yearning to remember what lead to his tragic suicide. Through communicating with the other spirits and his living girlfriend, Melinda tries to help him remember what lead to his tragic death so he can cross over.

In order to find the missing brother, Melinda must convince doctors to let him flatline a few seconds longer so she can piece together his clues.

When the heat repeatedly goes out in Melinda's house and antique shop, she starts getting strange visits from the spirits of an airline pilot and flight attendant who complain of being cold. Initially Melinda has trouble understanding the messages they are trying to communicate, but she eventually figures out that they are trying to warn her about a jetliner that has lost cabin pressure and is going to crash outside of town. Despite Melinda's best efforts to warn transportation officials and townspeople, the jetliner crashes just outside of town, killing hundreds on board and leading up to what will be Melinda's biggest challenge yet.

While Melinda uncovers why the child's spirit wreaks havoc in the house, she also meets the girl's brother who blames himself for his sister's death. Meanwhile, Delia, who sold the couple the house, would like to stop them from moving out.

While helping the spirit, Melinda encounters an interesting change of events, in addition to some moral issues she must deal with.

Melinda also remembers the night that she met Jim, which also involved a building on fire.

Melinda must now find a way to calm the former band mate's ghost so Brandon's father can give Brandon the encouragement he needs to go back to his rock music.

Matt, the angry ghost of a former pro-baseball player who died in a terrible car accident, tries to posses Justin Cotter, a young pitcher. Melinda must help Justin to understand what is happening to him and to turn away from the angry spirit, as Justin is scared and confused and unaware of what is taking place inside him.

An eerie, mud-covered ghost transports Melinda from her house to an exotic jungle, but the ghost is unfortunately limited in speech due to a horrible condition, making it hard for Melinda to understand how she can help him. Melinda once again visits Professor Payne for help, but ends up getting interrogated by him after linking the ghost to him during her visit.
