The Tachikomas have been returned to the lab for further study. Unfortunately for Batou, he will have little time to think about the loss of his pet. While away at a Security Conference in London with the Major, Chief Aramaki sends Batou orders to investigate one Pavlo Zaitsev. A Russian-born former boxing champ, and someone that Batou has looked up to, Zaitsev has been suspected of spying on Japan while working as a trainer for the Japanese Self-Defence Army.

| Japanese Title: 「心の隙間」 - 「Kokoro no Sukima」
The DVD translates the title as 「The Heart's Blind Spot」
| The English title of the episode is derived from the periodic table elements for silver (Ag) and oxygen (O). Adding one atom of oxygen to two atoms of silver, hence Ag2O, creates rusted silver. In this episode, Zaitsev's conscience is represented by his silver medal at the Paralympic Games. In that one moment, his life became tarnished because he lost all of his endorsements by not winning the gold. He then added to that one blemish by following a life of crime.
| The drink that Zaitsev's wife serves Batou is Myedovuha (Russian Cyrillic: Медовуха. The Russian 'e' is pronounced 'ye'), which is a Russian beverage made by the family. In other words, it's not something that is bought outright. This is why Zaitsev's becomes angry at his wife for not serving something more expensive. It also shows how Zaitsev's world is becoming turned upside down. He is slowly breaking the bonds that he has created in life.

| Japanese Word Mispronouced:
Despite the subtitles using the correct word, Batou pronounces the Dummy Barrier in Zaitsev's offices as Sakawa instead of Sagawa. The Japanese name of the company, which can be written in Kanji either as 佐川 or 狭川, can be said as Sagawa or Sakawa. However, the company has been shown in previous episodes in Latin characters as Sagawa.
