It's very sad to see the series ending. Fortunately, we still have a movie that is currently in production on the series so GitS: SAC is not over just yet! ^o^ |

Overall i'm satisfied with the finale Gouda got his and the solution to the nuke was great. Don't understand why the tachikomas had to sacrifice themselves again but it was well executed. Kuze and Motoko's realization of who they were was pretty uneventful, it's almost like the writers said to keep all parties from looking like idiots. Have a scene were they remember each other and i'm glad poor unrequited love Batou didn't have to see the couples intimate moment. Well Japan is an independent empire again the bad guys have met their just reward and all is well can't wait for the new story that's being produced! |

Great ending imo, the Fuchikomas (think that's what Major called them) were interesting. |

The ending was good, not quiet fulfilling. The most powerful part was the Tachikomas singing as they intercepted the missile; I'm guessing that was from the original recording. The sound of it, like children singing, overshadowed Motoko's and Kuze's moment together.
Maybe they could have done a little more for Motoko's and Kuze's acknowledgment of their past. Unfortunately Kuze's plan sounded too close to the plot of another anime, Serial Experiments: Lain where Eiri Masami, a researcher involved with the development of the WIRED (basically the internet) essentially tries to do the same thing with everyone in the world and rule as a god. He's stopped by Lain, who, as a creation of the WIRED 'resets' everyone's existence and saves the world.
It is interesting that they brought back agents Tanaka Watanabe and Suzuki Sato for a cameo. Wonder if they're implying this whole plot had been going on since JUNGLE CRUISE?
Well, the ending does leave things open for more stories. It is unlikely, though, since Production I.G. is busy with other projects. |

I personally found it unsatisfying. I wanted to see some people die. We got to know members this season, more personally. And got a taste of their past before and suring their S9 stints. But now we're just left with this empty void of non-closure. As if there was more to tell, but now they're not going to say.
The Tachikomas save themselves in the S9 files, but don't replace the new armor tanks? What's up with that? |

Ah, the "reset the world" idea. I like how this episode drew that from episode 2 of 2nd GIG, "NIGHT CRUISE".
Destroying the Tachikomas again does seem a bit played out already, but they can be saved and returned to other bodies. They contain the premise for individuality, but they will always lack the ghosts that define the entire GitS universe. Motoko, Batou, and all the others who are almost all cyborg still retain a part of their original bodies. They're not all machine so they still can be considered human. I think that's really what the ghost is: The remaining bits and pieces of a person, the ghost, who has been placed into a cyborg body, the shell.
I still remember the final moments of "BARRAGE". It'd be hard enough to accept Motoko's death. The same would go for any of the important members of Section 9. In any case, I think that with two more World Wars having been fought, one of them nuclear which destroyed Tōkyō, and all the lives that had been lost over the refugee issue, there had been enough killing in the series. |

Sorry about that no spoilers thing in the title habit from tv.com anyway the only thing I didn't like about the finale. Was the killing of the tachikomas again and how abruptly they jumped from kuze's death to the end. |

Perhaps they'll say a bit more about it in the movie. It's supposed to be a Puppet Master type criminal again (different, but similar) and it may be that, like the 1995 movie, Major Kusanagi wants to leave Section 9. For Solid State Society, it may be that the events of 2nd GIG effected her deeply. We'll have to wait and see just what is in store for Public Security Section 9. |

Hope this doesn't sound too dense, but is Solid State Security a movie or will it be a new set of episodes (3rd GIG/Season 3)? |

Thanks.
Guess I'm just reading these threads too early in the day -- I thought it was a movie, but the discussion sounded like it was going to be something a little more. |
