Gilmore Girls: Just Like Gwen and Gavin

After not being able to work up the courage to tell Lorelai about his daughter, April throws Luke into a panic when she asks if she can spend the day at his diner. Much to Luke’s horror, April and Lorelai begin talking at the diner and April mentions that Luke is her father. But Lorelai tries to support their relationship and offers to postpone the wedding so Luke and April can get to know each other better. However, Luke’s reaction to her proposal leaves Lorelai hurt and confused. At Yale, Logan goes to great extents in an attempt to win back Rory’s affection and the newspaper staff rebels against Paris at the Yale Daily News. Meanwhile, Rory, Lorelai, and Paul Anka run a fortune telling booth at the annual Winter Carnival and Zack gets jealous after seeing Lane with another guy.

Luke: Here... here... here...
Customer: This was tea.
Luke: Now you've got a hybrid. That's very in right now.

(while shaking Luke's hand)
April: This is how the Avian flu spreads by the way.

Taylor: Well, I should go.
Lorelai: Back to 8 Mile?

Anna: Kiddo, is that the TV?
April: Yes.
Anna: You watching something stupid?
April: Yes.

Zach: Welcome to the SH, bitch!

Episode Goofs
When Logan gives Rory the letter from Lorelai, he tells her that she sealed it so Logan couldn't read it. But when Rory opens it, the letter wasn't sealed.

When Luke and Lorelai are talking about April outside the diner, the same man walks behind them, in the same direction, twice.

In this episode, one key unlocks all of the locks on Paris and Rory's front door. However, when Rory was moving into the apartment, Paris had to use several keys to open the door -- one for each lock.

Cultural References
Episode Title: Just Like Gwen and Gavin

The episode title is a reference to couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale. Gwen Stefani found out that Gavin had a secret love child from a previous relationship, similar to the situation with Luke's daughter.

Zach: Welcome to the S.H., bitch!

This is a play on a now well known line from the first episode of The O.C., "Welcome to the O.C., bitch!"

Girl: Good job Columbo.

Lieutenant Columbo is the main character from the detective show, Columbo.

Taylor: I caught a plane out of Maine.
Lorelai: Even with the rain in Spain?

This is a reference to the play My Fair Lady in which the main character, Henry Higgins, uses the line "the rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain" to teach Eliza Doolittle to speak correctly.

Lorelai: Back to 8 Mile?

Lorelai says this to Taylor who is dressed in a grey sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, similar to the one worn by Eminem in the semi-biographical movie 8 Mile.

Lorelai: You will sing songs of gemstones!

This is a reference to the song "Gemstones" by Adam Green.
