Luke wants to throw April a birthday party and Lorelai eagerly volunteers to help. Luke crushes Lorelai when he tells her that he'd rather she not meet April yet, but is forced to enlist her help when the party turns into a disaster. At the party, Lorelai finally gets a chance to bond with April and turns the party disaster into an instant success. Meanwhile, Logan is rushed to the hospital after a Life and Death Brigade stunt goes wrong and Rory goes to the hospital to be with him.

April: Oh, we already went to the bathroom.
Lorelai: Oh, I know. This is going to be so much better.
| Anna: I can't believe you did this, Luke. You said you wanted to throw her a party. YOU.
Luke: Yeah, I did. I threw her a party.
Anna: No. You had your girlfriend throw her a party. A girlfriend I don't know, a girlfriend I've never even met!
| Lorelai: But Luke and I are getting married.
Anna: You're engaged. People get engaged all the time.
| Lorelai: You didn't plan any activities? It's a birthday party,
Luke: I thought that was the activity.
| April: So, you have a daughter, right?
Lorelai: Yes. Rory.
April: That's good. You'd be, like, totally wasted on a son.

| When Lorelai and Sookie are talking in the kitchen, the bowl of tomatoes appears and disappears behind Sookie.

In the Harry Potter series of books, Hagrid is the friendly half-giant that Harry becomes friends with.

The movie that Lorelai puts on for the girls is the 1980s hit Pretty in Pink. The movie stars Jon Cryer, who currently stars in Two and a Half Men, as Ducky.

| Paris and Rory
This episode is a great example of Paris and Rory’s relationship. Though they were originally enemies, this episode shows how their relationship has developed from the first season into the best friends they’ve become. Though Rory isn’t able to get the doctors to give her information about Logan’s condition, Paris is able to come through for Rory and get the information on Logan’s condition for her.
