Episode Quotes

Paris: Gilmore, do you see any of my students falling in love with me? No, and do you know why? 'Cause you don't fall in love with people that make you want to crap your pants.

Rory: Well, I'm sure you'll have fun at your cotillion.
Charlotte: I am very much looking forward to it.
Lorelai: Oh, don't get too excited. Cotillions aren't fun parties; they're boring rituals that are used to train a whole new generation of snobs.
Emily: And how exactly would you know? (to Charlotte) Lorelai never attended a cotillion.
Lorelai: You don't have to jump off the Empire State Building to know it's gonna hurt.

Lorelai: (to Charlotte, jokingly) Are you going to have a drink too, or are you driving tonight?
Charlotte: Oh, Lorelai, I'm only 10.

Lorelai: What if I don’t like what I like because I like it but because my mother doesn’t like it?
Rory: Huh?

Lane: I'm pregnant.
Zach: With a baby?

Episode Goofs

During the tutoring scene, Rory is helping a boy with the analogy section. However, the SATs have eliminated the analogy segment of the test.

During the Friday night dinner with Christopher in "Partings", Emily states that she and Richard will be gone for two months following that evening. However, in this episode in the beginning scene, it's established that it's only been four weeks since that dinner took place.

Episode Title: Lorelai's First Cotillion

A cotillion is a formal ball given for debutantes. The ball originated in 18th century France as a social dance and grew in popularity since then.

Episode References

Luke changing the hat that he normally wears is a reference back to "Forgiveness and Stuff" in which Lorelai gives Luke a blue hat for Christmas that he wears in every episode up until this one.
