Bon Voyage
!!!!!! This review contains spoilers !!!!!!

After 7 hilarious yet dramatic seasons, “Bon Voyage” gave the series a bit of closure that it definitely deserved. With the loss of two main writers, Amy and Daniel Palladino, I had mixed feelings about the final episode. Without Amy’s stellar writing touch, season 7 was lacking a little something that made the first 6 seasons so unique and special, but the writers really came together to make the series finale the best that it could be. I wouldn't have had it any other way.

I enjoyed the Christiane Amanpour cameo appearance. It tied the finale in with the second (I believe…) episode where Rory tells the headmaster that she wants to be Christiane Amanpour when she grows up, bring the series full circle which was a nice touch.

The town coming together to throw Rory a goodbye party seemed more like the Gilmore Girls of old than that of the previous 21 season 7 episodes. The entire town showed up, from Kirk to Babette and Miss Patty, all of which were there from the beginning. Moments with Emily, Richard, Lorelai and Rory were very special and quite tear-jerking. They really showed how much the four of them have changed over the last 7 years and how far their relationship has come.

And who didn’t love Rory’s speech? I couldn’t help but bawl during the entire thing. Gilmore Girls has always gotten tears out of me. It’s just that damn good. And Lorelai and Luke’s kiss? It’s about damn time. I wanted them together from the beginning.
The final scene was a great final touch to the series; bring the series full circle once again, and showing that despite the ups and downs, they’ve always been the Gilmore Girls we’ve grown to love.

I was very pleased with the finale. From here on out, my Tuesday nights will be oddly quiet.
