Emily insists that Lorelai and Rory come to Thanksgiving Day dinner, which causes the girls to be even more overbooked: they have already committed to three other feasts, including celebrations being held by Lane, Luke and Sookie. While dining at the Gilmore estate, Lorelai is floored to learn that Rory applied to Yale University without telling her.

Episode Quotes

Rory: How do you feel?
Lorelai: I ate Tofurkey! How do you think I feel?
Rory: Tofurkier?
Lorelai: Drat that Mrs. Kim for not taking her eyes off me the whole time. It's like she was anticipating my napkin maneuver.

Lorelai: Oh, please, we’re not eating for a year.
Rory: Or ‘til tomorrow morning.
Lorelai: Which ever comes first.

(about Kirk's cat)
Lorelai: She? I thought it was a boy.
Kirk: That was just a guess. He actually hasn't exposed his underside to me yet. Or hers.
Lorelai: Wow, here's hoping your cat exposes itself to you soon.
Kirk: From your mouth to God's ears.

Luke: Shoudn't we say thanks first?
Jess: For what?
Luke: Well, that we're not Native Americans who got their land stolen in exchange for small pox infested blankets.
Lorelai: Amen.

Episode Goofs

When Rory and Lorelai visit Sookie while her relatives are deep-frying things, Sookie's glass changes positions between shots.

Cultural References

Dave: But I've got these Kurt Cobain callouses, now how cool is that.

Kurt Cobain is the former lead singer of the band Nirvana. In 1994, Cobain committed suicide.

Lorelai: Actually, I scare them with my Minnie Pearl impression.
Trix: The lady with the hat.

Comedian Minnie Pearl was a regular performer on The Grand Ole Opry who always wore a hat with the price tag still hanging off it.

Lorelai: We're not Michelle Kwan-ing this!

Michelle Kwan, an Olympic figure skater, was expected to win gold in both the 1998 and 2002 winter Olympics, but never managed to win the gold.

Jess: I'm Frank at the Sands.

This refers to Frank Sinatra and the Sands Casino in Las Vegas. During the Rat Pack days, Sinatra and the rest of the pack were the essence of cool.
