Lorelai has to miss Stars Hollow's Winter Carnival when Great Grandmother Gilmore pays a surprise visit and insists on having dinner with Richard and Emily at Lorelai's inn, where she makes a surprise announcement. Meanwhile, Rory's plans to enjoy the carnival with Jess are complicated when they run into Dean and his little sister Clara.
Boy: Here you go, congratulations. (gives her a stuffed bear)
Rory: Thanks. Hello sad, pathetic bear.
Jess: You know, I could’ve bought you that thing for a quarter.
Rory: No, it’s better that I won it. Maybe Clara would like it.
Jess: Yes, shoved in her mouth.
Emily: This couch cannot stay.
Lorelai: Yes, it can.
Emily: It’s awful.
Lorelai: It can hear you.
Clara: Do you wash your hair?
Jess: Yes, I wash my hair.
Clara: Then why does it stick up like that?
Clara: It looks crazy.
Trix: (to Richard and Emily) I expect to return in twenty minutes. That should give you enough time to pull my gifts out of storage and place them around the room as if they actually stand there all year.
Trix: Rory, you’re a young person who works hard. It’s equally important to have fun. You go to the carnival.
Rory: Thank you.
Trix: Lorelai, you’ve had enough fun in your life.
Lorelai: And then some.
(about a spider)
Lorelai: Could you get rid of it?
Dean: Yeah, yeah.
Lorelai: Don't let his family see you. Spiders are vindictive. And this was a really big spider. I think it had a gun.
When Emily is at Lorelai's home and Lorelai arrives in the car, the sun is not shining. When she gets inside the house moments later, the sun is shining.
When Rory is talking to Jess and holding a snow cone, in some shots it's half gone, but in others, it is totally intact.
When the Gilmores are having dinner at the inn, we can see that Lorelai and her grandmother are sitting quite far apart, but when the camera zooms in on just the two of them, they are sitting very close tohether.
Episode Title: That'll Do, Pig
The episode title is a reference to the 1995 movie Babe. In the movie, Farmer Hoggett says "That'll do, pig. That'll do" to Babe to show his gratitude to the pig.
Lorelai: How'd it finally end with Cheech and Chong?
Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are a comedy duo popular in the 1960s and 1970s who have also starred in a series of movies.
Jess: (to Clara)
Hey, Tattoo, just look for the plane, will you?
Jess is referencing a line often used in the TV show Fantasy Island
which starred Ricardo Montalban as Mr. Roarke and Herve Villechaize as Tattoo.
You do not want to be my enemy, Marlo Thomas.
I think I do, Tina Louise.
