After the blow-up with Luke, Jess leaves Stars Hollow for Venice, California, to stay with Jimmy, the father he knows almost nothing about. Jimmy admits he isn't capable of being a father, but promises to ask his live-in girlfriend Sasha to let Jess stay. Back in Stars Hollow, at the same time Lorelai is wondering how to tell Rory that Jess is gone, she learns that the money Richard gave her will make Rory ineligible for financial aid at Yale. Feeling stressed out about everything, Rory unexpectedly confronts Emily over her treatment of Lorelai.

Episode Quotes |
| |
Jimmy: When you left home, were the cops after you?
Jess: No.
Jimmy: No 'cause they shouldn't be or no 'cause they haven't found the head yet? | (to Rory about her yearbook)
Lorelai: Hey, you know what's weird? A lot of the kids in here are calling you valedictorian and if that's anything like a dirty skank, I'll kick their plaid butt right up the sidewalk. | Jess: Do they bite?
Sasha: Just those two. (Sasha leaves)
Jess: Which two? Which two!? Great! (to the dogs) If you bite me, I swear I'll bite you back. | (about Jess)
Lorelai: Luke.
Luke: I failed him.
Lorelai: You did not fail him. You supported him, you defended him, you gave him a chance and if he chose not to take it. There was nothing more you could do. | (Paris and Lorelai are sitting at the senior party cruise booth and Paris is freaking out that no one's signed up)
Paris: Unbutton your blouse.
Lorelai: What?
Paris: Unbutton the top buttons of your blouse.
Lorelai: Why?
Paris: Guys are attracted to that kind of thing. Well me doing it isn't going to help any.
Lorelai: Paris, you need to stop worrying. You need to stop obsessing. You need to stop looking at my boobs. | Rory: Who cares if I'm pretty if I miss my finals?
Lorelai: Wow, you've got that all wrong. | Lorelai: Hey, listen, my little Holly Hunter in Broadcast News, I'm gonna let you freak out and study like a mad woman and stress yourself out until finals, but once they're over, we are gonna celebrate big time ... 'cause this is amazing.
Rory: Yeah, it is.
Lorelai: Okay, now go make Mommy nervous. |

Episode Goofs |
| |
Lorelai and Rory talk about how they just returned from Souplantation. However, there is no Souplantation in Connecticut, with the closest one being in North Carolina. | The reflection of crew can be seen in the windows of Lorelai's house while she and Luke are talking on the porch, and if you look hard, you can see Warner Bros. buildings behind the trees. |

Episode Title: Here Comes the Son
The episode title comes from the song "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles from the album Abbey Road. "Here Comes the Sun" is also the title of a song by Jerry Keller. | Rory: Does Gore Vidal live near here?
Gore Vidal is an American author who wrote several essays, novels, and plays and lived in both Los Angeles and Ravello, Italy, but sold his house in Italy shortly after this episode aired. | Lorelai: Hey, listen, my little Holly Hunter in "Broadcast News".
In the 1987 film Broadcast News, Holly Hunter's character was constantly working and very busy. | Paris: Suddenly, I'm Felicity without the hair issues.
Paris is referring to the television series Felicity. During the series run, show star Keri Russell cut her long, curly hair and shortly after her hair-do change, the show's ratings dropped significantly and the show was canceled. Some fans blame the show's cancellation on Russell's hair cut, while others believe that it was due to a time-slot change. |
