Episode Quotes

Jason: I'm officially taking the one hour I have off to go to the driving range to hit golf balls to try to improve my sucky game, thereby redeeming myself in your father's eyes.
Lorelai: I like the use of 'sucky' and 'thereby' in the same sentence.

Lorelai: I'll be in in a minute.
Luke: Who are you talking to?
Lorelai: My other two personalities.

Lorelai: Jason's gone.
Rory: Finally had enough of you.
Lorelai: Oh, yeah. It took three hours of my hula-dancing, Small World doll impressions, but I broke him.

Lorelai: Yeah, you're right. He might prefer the full-on, frontal assault. You know, just constant mental flogging right from "dingdong" through till "drive safe."
Rory: Well, at least he said "drive safe."
Lorelai: Oh, no. It wasn't him. It was the maid.

Luke: You heading in there?
Lorelai: Yeah. I need stamps. You heading in there?
Luke: Yep. I'm getting my divorce.

(while Lorelai is on the phone with both Jason and Rory)
Rory: Fire!
Lorelai: What?
Rory: Nothing. I was just feeling left out.

Rory: He doesn't look mad.
Lorelai: It depends upon what definition you're thinking of.

Episode Goofs

At the post office, Lorelai asks Luke what happened to this thumb and Luke replies that it was from the thumb print he did yesterday. Later in the scene, Luke says that he's been scrubbing on the ink for two days, but it won't come off, but if he got the print only one day before he couldn't have scrubbed on it for two days.

Outside of the post office while Luke and Lorelai are talking, the same Jeep and silver car drive by several times.

Cultural References

Rory: How's World War III going?
Lorelai: Oh, you know, the first boys off the boat were mowed down, but the next platoon is moving in.

This is a possible reference to the movie Saving Private Ryan. During the opening scene, platoons of men arrive at Normandy on D-Day and the first men off of the ships are killed by the German soldiers waiting for them on shore.
