Rory decides that she and Lorelai should split up at the next Friday night dinner and confront Richard and Emily separately about ending their separation. However, Emily dashes their hopes of a reconciliation by announcing that she is ready to begin dating. Meanwhile, Lorelai invites Christopher for lunch at the inn, unaware that Rory had warned Christopher to stay away from her mother. Feeling guilty that she hadn't told Luke about seeing Christopher, Lorelai confesses that they had lunch, and Luke "convinces" himself that he isn't jealous. Jackson is overwhelmed by the twin burdens of Sookie's pregnancy and his role as town selectman. Paris tries to observe Ramadan.

Rory: Okay, so I've got an idea.
Lorelai: Finally, this Yale thing's kicking in. | Paris: People came to America to escape religious persecution.
Marty: Well, what religion is anti-leftovers? | Emily: You see a man. You walk up to him, and you say -
Lorelai: Hello.
Emily: Is that too forward? | Lorelai: Hi, T.J.
T.J.: Three feet, Lorelai, because I haven't showered in as many days.
Lorelai: Uh, bye, T.J. | (about Emily wanting to start to date)
Rory: What? Why?
Lorelai: He wouldn't butter her roll. | Sookie: When I worry too much about how I'm treating Jackson, I just remember Brandy.
Lorelai: Brandy?
Sookie: Christopher's Brandy.
Lorelai: Christopher's Sherry?
Sookie: Oh, I knew it was something like that. | Emily: I think it's time for me to date.
Lorelai: (chokes on her drink) Oh my God!
Emily: I want to go on a date.
Lorelai: With a man?
Emily: No, a weasel. Of course with a man!
Lorelai: I'm not hearing this!
Emily: Well, why shouldn't I date? I'm still a viable commodity.
Lorelai: I need a paper towel and a valium, please. |

Emily: The facts are he's moved on, and therefore I should move on also.
Lorelai: Absolutely. Move on dot org.
MoveOn.org is a liberal political action group website. | Rory: Apparently that wasn't enough Peyton Place for me.
Peyton Place is a 1960s TV series based on a movie and a book that told the scandalous stories of the residents in a small New England town. | Lorelai: I thought you'd turned Amish and couldn't make any calls until Rumspringa.
Runspringa is a coming of age time in which Amish teenagers are allowed to experience modern technology before they either committ to the Amish lifestyle or remain in the modern world. | Lorelai: Good thing we ditched that Audi in Marseilles, now we just have to find that tracking device.
Lorelai is referring to a scene from The Bourne Supremacy. | Lorelai: I'm confused, I was going to hit the Orpheum Circuit with that bit.
The Orpheum Circuit refers to a chain of film houses in the 1920s featuring vaudeville and silent movies. | Lorelai: (to Emily, who is wearing a slip and bed jacket) Just tell him you're obsessed with Butterfield 8 and go like that.
Butterfield 8 is a 1960 movie starring Elizabeth Taylor as a promiscuous model. In some ads and posters for the movie, Taylor is dressed similarly to what Emily is wearing in this scene. |
