In the opening, the Glee club are laughing and watching a video of the coach dancing to Olivia Newton-John's 'Physical'. Kurt had acquired (stole) it when he was told to get her hormone replacement injections during practice. Finn thinks they should post it on YouTube, but a few of the Glee kids are not sure that is a good idea. Jesse thinks he should do it. So, they do exactly that.
In school the next day, the coach is really getting made fun of hard because of the video. She is seriously livid and brings Will to the principal's office. Will isn't really all that interested and she tells them about something called the "Glist". It is a ranking of the Glee club based on promiscuity. She says that it was clearly posted by someone in Glee due to the log ins. The principal goes into panic mode because it is such a scandal to him. He demands that Will find out who has done this or he'll make Glee go away.
No one is saying that they did it and Will becomes worried about the reputation of the club. He gives them an assignment to find a song that has a bad reputation and make it better. The coach goes into the teachers lounge and everyone is laughing at her. She meets up with a new teacher named Brenda Castle and she tells her that she can't work in Indiana due to a drug incident that also involved her students. Brenda then tells coach that she is quite the embarrassment.
Rachel is down about being pretty low on the Glist and wants to dirty up her reputation. She asks Artie and the AV club to help her do exactly just that. Kurt, Tina, and Mercedes are meeting up to talk about how they weren't even on the list. Kurt wants to get a scandal going so that they can be noticed. Artie notices that Brittany is still there. He asks her why and she tells them that she had been there since first period. She had a cold and took all of the antibiotics at the same time so she can't even remember how to leave. She also tells them that she doesn't get how she's on 4th place when she makes out with everyone. So, she is into getting scandalous.
The plan is to make a racket in the school library. The coach (Sue) goes to see her sister. She apologizes for not protecting her from being made fun of. Sue has decided she wants to be the school therapist so that she can help. She talks to Emma about a few things such as Will making out with Shelby, having a sleep over with April, and tells her that she needs to talk to him publicly about how she feels.
Rachel has invited Puck to her house to speak to her. They dated at one point and she asked him to help her out with the Glist. He's wanting to make out with her. She has decided to make a video of her doing "Run Joey Run" by David Geddes. At school, Sue is taking Emma to the lounge for her to talk to Will. She is interrupted by Brenda and she tells her not to start with her or she'll "kick her in the taco". Brenda doesn't listen and refuses to back down.
Emma finally gets to confront Will in front of all of the teachers. Emma ends up calling him a slut and of course he's confused by that. Kurt and the others decide to do "You Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer in the library. Unfortunately, they were asked to perform at the librarian's church and definitely not what they were looking for.
Will has decided to ask the kids one by one who did it. Everyone else decides they are going to admit to the video so that they can get noticed and thought of as edgy. While Sue is at home she gets a phone call from Olivia Newton-John who wants to "save her reputation". When Kurt goes to admit to Sue that he uploaded the video and expects to get reamed, Sue thanks him. He is pretty confused and they go to Youtube to find that she made a video with Olivia Newton John.
Rachel has enlisted Finn, Jesse, and Puck to play her boyfriend at various times through out the video. They had no clue that she casted them all and well--they were NOT happy about it. Sue has gone to visit her sister again and she's pretty happy with herself. She tells her sister that she spent a lot of time worrying about what everyone else thought, but there is only one person she wants to impress. She decides she was going to donate the earnings from the video to the nursing home where her sister lives.
Will decides to bring Emma some flowers and she's not into it. He wants her to see him as she always has but she still feels like he is a slut. After he leaves the office he sees that Quinn has been pushed in the hall. She then admits that she is the one who had posted the list so that she can create her reputation whether it was good or bad.
The principal comes to meet up with Will because he wanted to tell him who did the list, but after having an emotional conversation with Quinn he doesn't tell him. He begs Figgins to back down and Glee is no longer in danger of being shut down. Jesse and Rachel are elsewhere and he has made the decision to break up with her. That is when Rachel breaks out in song and sings "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler. While she is singing, the boys do the back up vocals and then Jesse sings the male part. At the end of the song and episode, Rachel is completely alone.
