Funk - Recap

The Glee kids are talking about how they feel like they have a real shot to win regionals. That is when Rachel goes and says it is an emergency and go to the room. The other team that they are competing against are there. She learns that Jesse is still on Team Adrenaline. They show them a routine that they set up and it was Queen's Another One Bites the Dust. The Glee club talks about it and then sees that they have Teepee'd their room. The coach comes in and says that she is going to take over their room. At home, Will is finalizing his divorce with his wife. They have a bit of a moment and then leave.

The next day Will goes in and asks the group what their regret would be. He wants to set up a way to get back at the other group. They (Finn and Puck) end up deflating and slashing tires of the other team, then promptly got caught. They end up in some pretty serious trouble due to this. Will goes to someone to talk to about Vocal Adrenaline. He says that they have a weakness. They decide to get "funked up" and beat them in regionals. They want to do something funky and decide that the black members of the group will work on that, but Quinn says she wants to be a part of it, too. She says she has plenty of soul and plenty of anger. Rachel is upset that Jesse lied to her and says she wants to crush him.

Will ends up hitting on the coach and sucks up to her. He fluffs her ego while asking her advice. He wants to make sure that the song isn't "too suggestive" and then sings it with a very "sexy" attitude about it. Trying to trick her into having feelings so he can keep the room. She didn't react and said she was bored. Finn and Puck have gotten a job with William's ex wife. Puck and Finn and end up singing Beck's "Loser" and the whole store sings along in Puck's imagination. The ex wife is a bit rude to Puck and then she starts having flashbacks of Will. At work, Will is hitting on the coach again. He is asking her out on a date.

At Linens and Things, Finn and Mrs. Schuester are talking about Glee. He tells her that his mind isn't in this. She snaps on him about Glee and then realizes that she shouldn't do that because she is known for destroying dreams. She takes to Finn and even makes him the assistant assistant manager. At school, Quinn brings her friends in and do a pregnancy performance to the song "It's a Man's World" by James Brown. The coach is sitting there waiting for William to show up at the restaurant. He stands her up and then she shows up at his house. She flips on him about ditching her and then he tells her that it is really him giving her a taste of her own medicine.

William comes back into school and the cheerleaders are crying. Kurt tells William that the coach won't get out of bed and it is making it hard and scary for the cheerleaders cause if they don't win the regionals they won't get a scholarship. Finn, Puck, and Mercedes do their own version of "Good Vibrations" by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. William tells them that it isn't funk, it is rap. Mercedes and Quinn discuss how offended Mercedes is about her doing a funk song. Mercedes tells her that it's not a big deal. William goes to the coach and tries to talk to her. He tells her that he did what he did out of anger. He apologizes to her and tells her that she is not alone. She gets inspired to work. Rachel gets a phone call from Jesse telling her to meet him in the parking lot. He sets her up so that his team can egg her.

Rachel tells the group about it and they are angry. They want to defend her, but William doesn't want them to do it. William says they will hand it differently. Sue (the coach) has succeeded and she even allowed Kurt do a Celine Dion medley in French. She then brings the giant award to him. She says that either it can be in his room forever or he kisses her. She backs out. Then the award goes in his room, anyway. On Friday, the team shows the opposing team that they have the best and most funk, which is what the other team doesn't have. They do the song "We Want the Funk" by George Clinton and they were floored.
