Britney/Brittany - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Mr. Schue asks who can tell him who Christopher Cross is. Brittany says
he discovered America. He tells them great music can be controlled, it
doesn’t have to be all wild and ‘out there’. Curt suggests they do
something by Britney Spears, and the group is very excited, but Mr.
Schuester shoots them down. He says she’s a bad role model. Rachel says
they grew up with her, and Tina says Britney is literally why she wanted
to become a performer. Brittany says she doesn’t want to because her
name is Brittany S Pierce, which makes her Brittany SPierce and she’s
lived her entire life in Britney Spears’ shadow. Rachel asks if they can
move on, And Will says yes. Let’s talk about Michael Bolton.

Emma tells Will he’s uptight because he won’t let the kids perform
Britney. She says Carl is helping her get over her issues. They even
bought both red grapes and green grapes, and mixed them together and ate
them all. It was sheer madness.

Carl shows up unexpectedly to take Emma to lunch. He says he loves that
look of sheer panic every time he tries to change her routine. He
introduces himself to Will. Carl is concerned about how poorly kids are
taking care of their teeth these days, and Will invites him to talk to
the glee club.

Two football players tear Finn’s letter jacket in two to signify his
dual sexuality, they say. Artie shows up just then to apologize to Finn
for getting him kicked off the team. Azimio says his code of conduct
won’t let him hit a crippled kid, but they will be back.

Carl hands out those little pills that turn your teeth blue if you
missed any plaque. Santana tells Carl he’s the hottest dentist she’s
ever seen, and he can drill her any time. Emma interrupts to stop that
line of conversation. They al chew their capsules, and Rachel’s teeth
are completely blue.

In his office, Dr. Howell tells Brittany she has cavities in every
tooth, and changes to “Slave for You” on Pandora. Brittany is starring
in the video; whoa. When she comes out of the anaesthetic, she says “I
petted a snake”, and Dr. Carl says “rock on.” She then asks him if he’s
a cat.

Rachel and Finn are walking down the hall together. She says he seems
distant and he says yes, it feels strange not being on the football team
anymore. She says she’s relieved as now she doesn’t have to decide what
song she would sing to him at his bedside if he were in a coma. Rachel
makes a comment about cheerleaders, and when Finn objects, she says
she’s just trying to be honest. Santana and Brittany walk past and
insult Rachel. She tells Finn he could have defended her, and he said
Santana has a point; just trying to be honest. He walks away.

Santana and Brittany show up at the dental office, saying they want to
both go under anaesthetic. Dr. Howell says Santana’s teeth are perfect
but when she tells him they are determined, he says he can give her a
deep cleansing. He asks if they want music, and they say no, they have
it covered. Santana and Brittany then perform the Zone. At the end,
Brittany and Britney come face-to-face. Brittany tells Britney “You’re
really hot”, and Britney says “You’re sweet”. Brittany responds “and
your breath smells really good.” Britney responds “So does yours, and
you know why? Because this is a fantasy.” Brittany wakes up giggling.

Mr. Schuester is still pushing Christopher Cross, but the kids are
having none of it. Brittany shares her fantasy in the dental office, and
she comes to the conclusion that she’s more talented than Britney. Kurt
chimes in that this is what they need to be singing. Schue says no
again, and Kurt tells him that he’s letting his own personal issues get
in the way of something that they all really want to do. When Schue says
he’s done talking about it, Kurt explodes, telling him to let loose a
little and stop being so freakin uptight all the time. They both react
in shock. Will tells Kurt he will see him in the principal’s office.

When Will lands in Dr. Howell’s office, and they hash out their feelings
about Emma, Will agrees to back off. But if Emma indicates in any way
that they might have a chance, he’s back in the game. Carl says that’s
fine. He offers some candy to Will, and tells him he needs to loosen up.
He says that he thinks things didn’t work out with Emma because she and
Will don’t have an impulsive bone between them. He says Will needs to
start doing things for no reason. Carl shares that he was getting up the
same time every day, driving a hybrid - one day he drives past the Chevy
dealer and notices that the new Corvettes had just come in. So he does a
u-turn and buys one. Takes the top down, picks up Emma, doesn’t even
care if her hair gets windblown.

Will sees Rachel in the waiting room and she tells him she is relaxing
by taking herbal anti-anxiety pills and reading the unauthorized
biography of Britney Spears. Will gives her a candy, and tells her good
luck.

Rachel’s fantasy is (Hit Me) One More Time. Dr. Howell tells Rachel that
the Glee kids are impossible to work on when they’re under because they
keep moving around.

Rachel shows up in school wearing the schoolgirl outfit from the video.
Finn reacts in anger, and she tells him she gets his point; they can’t
control each other. She won’t object to him joining the football team
again - if he can.

Will buys a new car, just like Carl’s. He’s going to take Emma for a
cruise but when he starts to accelerate, Terri shows up in front of the
car. She tells him he needs to return the car, he can’t afford it. Emma
walks away. Terri reverses her position but tells him not to blow
through all their savings because once he realizes he doesn’t want
little miss crazy, he’ll come back to her.

Rachel tells Mr. Schuester and the Glee Club that her Britney fantasy
helped her realize it’s okay to dress like a pretty girl. She didn’t
feel like one, so she didn’t dress like one. Just then, Sue calls Will
out for a word.

Sue found Jacob Ben Israel in the libary, naked .... thinking of Rachel
Berry. She hauls him into her office in that very condition. Will says
she’s right, it is disgusting but they’re kids. She says Britney Spears
is like a gateway to deviant sexual behavior. Will says again that they
will NOT be performing Britney Spears.

Britney and Brittany are in cheerleading uniforms, talking to Tina.
Britney tells Tina she’s a fool for breaking up with Artie. She says she
knows, and apologizes to Artie. He says he’s stronger, and wheels away.
Brittany tells Britney (again) “I’m serious. You’re hot”. Artie then
performs “I’m Stronger”.

Artie asks Finn what he’s doing, and he says he’s going to run laps, and
try to get back on the team. Artie asks Coach Bieste to reconsider, and
Finn says he’s not with him on this. She says well he should be; he’s
going to need to help Artie get his uniform. He’s on the team. They both
are.

Artie explains to everybody how the nitrous has made them all have
Britney hallucinations. Will comes in and tells the club they can
perform Britney at the homecoming assembly. They’re all ecstatic until
he announces he is going to perform with them.

Rachel tells Finn she will do whatever she has to, in order to make him
feel safe and secure. He doesn’t respond the same until she asks. She
says she can’t trust him. He says she can’t ask him to choose between
her and football, and she says she can, and she will.

Becky tells Sue that she heard they are going to do Britney Spears. Sue
tells her that if she sees anybody doing anything wrong, she should make
a citizen’s arrest. The club performs Toxic, and the crowd goes wild.
Sue is infuriated. She declares it a Britney Spears sex riot, and throws
the fire alarm. Sue tells Will she’s gonna sue the pants off him.

Will tells Emma he thought she wanted him to be less uptight. She says
she just wanted him to relax, not stop being himself. She asked him why
he’d want to be somebody else when he is so amazing and he answers that
the boring somebody he already was, wasn’t good enough for her. Will
starts to leave, and Emma asks where he’s going. He says he’s going to
return that car.

Quinn asks Finn to get back together, and he refuses. Quinn then tells
Rachel that she said what Rachel wanted her to say, and he wasn’t
interested. She thinks he really loves Rachel.

Rachel asks permission to perform a song for the club. Mr. Schue says
he’s done with Britney, but Rachel says it’s not Britney. She then talks
for some time about Finn and her love for him, and how she has to stop
holding him so tight or she’ll crush him. Santana and Brittany are
monopolizing Finn, but he breaks away from them to be with Rachel.

The show ends with Will sitting behind the wheel of his old car, looking
very lonely and sad.
