Special Education - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Will invites Emma to sectionals, as his "plus one". She'd love to. He
says she's their good luck charm. Not that they need one, as they have a
killer line-up. Emma takes over and runs down the set exactly. She knows
this, because Will is in a rut. After Rocky Horror, she was reminded how
much talent he has in New Directions. She tells him exactly what he
needs to hear to shake things up for the club.

As he enters the room, Rachel tells him she's selected the perfect duet
for her and Finn to kick sectionals off with. He interrupts her to tell
the group that this year is going to be totally different. Brittany and
Mike are going to be featured, dancing. Rachel doesn't understand. Are
they going to be dancing in front of her during her solo? Mr. Schue
tells her she doesn't get a solo this year. Mercedes assumes this means
she's got the solo, but Will sets her straight, too. The winners of the
duets competition will be taking the leads. Sam and Quinn. Finn and
Rachel continue to disagree but everybody else is up for the shake-up.
Santana calls Finn a hypocrite, and when Rachel jumps her because she's
had enough, Santana finally blows the whistle on her and Finn's
extracurricular activities last year, in the motel. The entire room is
speechless, except Will.

Kurt arrives at his new school, and it's obvious he loves it there. He's
given custody of Pavarotti, their canary, as the newest Warbler. He'll
be fully responsible for him until somebody else new joins the Warblers.
The Warblers don't have a coach. Every year they elect three upper class
men to lead them, but they all get a say in their musical choices. Kurt
loves it. He wants to share his ideas. They listen, but tell him the
decision is theirs.

Rachel asks Finn if it's true and he admits it. They're talking in front
of Emma. She's supposed to be their relationship counselor. She suggests
they sing out their feelings. Rachel is really hurt when Finn says
Santana is hot, so Emma suggests that rather than slap him, she storm out.

Artie finds Brittany fighting her fears in a corner, so he gives her his
magic comb. She won't be able to fail with the magic comb. She's very
grateful, and Artie is the best boyfriend ever.

Mr. Schue asks Puck to find their 12th member or they won't be able to
compete in sectionals.

Blaine tells Kurt he knows it was hard for him to see his ideas get shot
down like that, in chorus. Because he handled it so well, he's invited
to audition for a solo at sectionals. Blaine tells him to sing something
good.

Puck talks to the football team to try to find somebody to be in New
Directions. He talks to them about Springsteen. They aren't amused, so
they decide to make an example out of him.

The kids are still squabbling. Rachel walks in with duct tape over her
mouth because she's protesting. Will loses his temper and orders her to
take it off. He tells her she's spoiled, and she has a lousy attitude.
She returns fire, telling him she's upset. She's furious about this. He
starts talking to her, but talks to the whole group. He wants them to be
good sports at sectionals.

Puck shows up, telling everybody that he was trapped in a porta-potty
for 24 hours. Wrestling girl rescued him, and agreed to join glee club,
provided her conditions were met. Said conditions were inclusive of
seven minutes in heaven with Puck. She rocked his world. Lauren is
welcomed to the club.

Finn and Rachel are hurting, and Santana rubs salt in her wounds. Puck
asks Rachel is she's okay. He promised he'd be nicer to people if he got
out of the potty.

Tina confronts Arnie. She thinks Mike and Brittany are having an affair.
She kissed Mike, and he tasted like Lip Smackers. Arnie points out that
Brittany likes sharing her Lip Smackers, and in fact he likes the way
his lips taste when she does share. Tina doesn't believe him, and
reiterates that they are being cheated on.

Rachel is playing the piano when Kurt finds her. He wants her to help
her with his solo audition. She accepts. They perform "Don't Cry for Me,
Argentina." They totally nail it, it's amazing. But Kurt doesn't win,
because he tried too hard. Blaine tells him it's going to take some
getting used to, but he'll get there.

Brittany won't talk to Artie.

As the bus loads for sectionals, everybody is miserable and locked in
their own little worlds. Emma arrives and tells Will she won't be
joining him. She didn't tell Carl she was going, so she told him. They
had a big fight, then they made up. Then he told her he loved her, then
she told him she loved him back. Rachel tells him they have to get
moving. Emma offers him luck, and a kiss on the cheek.

Rachel and Kurt touch base, and she extends sympathies that he didn't
get the solo. He's finding out things about himself that he didn't know,
since he joined the Warblers. He misses his old gang. The Warblers don't
appreciate his individuality like they did. They hug, now that he is no
longer Rachel's only real competition. He asks after Finn, and she tells
him about Santana. He knew, and thought she did.

The Hipsters do a great job on "The Living Years", to wild applause. The
Warblers also do a fantastic job on "Hey, Soul Sister". Rachel sends
"smile!" signals to Kurt. Mr. Schue is all wide-eyed apprehension, and
New Directions gives them a standing ovation (followed by the rest of
the auditorium).

In the green room, everybody is at odds. Brittany apologizes to Artie,
she's never felt worse about anything in her life. Rachel wants to know
why Finn told Kurt, but he didn't. Mercedes did. In fact, the whole room
knows. Everybody BUT Rachel knew. Finn finally reminds Rachel of the
facts. She has no right to be angry with him. She was dating another guy
at the time. He shouldn't have lied, but that's not what she's upset
about. She's upset about "The Santana of it all." Lauren announces that
this is the best green room ever. Rachel decides she's not going out
there on the same stage with Finn. Artie says he's not going with
Brittany, and Tina says the same for Mike. Will talks them down. He just
needs them to get it, and keep it, together for six minutes. Artie
confronts Brittany again, and she tells him she thought he accused her
of being stupid. Adultery. Like - a dolt. She didn't cheat with Mike.
She lost his magic comb, and she felt really bad, and she was afraid to
tell him. Artie owns up, too; it wasn't a magic comb. He found it on the
floor. He tells her she's magic all on her own, and they kiss.

Lauren does push-ups. It's how she gets psyched up before a match. She
tells Puck she's not nervous, and that's because this choir thing is stupid.

They open with Sam and Lauren singing "Time of My Life" from Dirty
Dancing. After a standing ovation, Santana sings lead on "Valerie", and
Mike and Brittany tear up the dance floor. They get a second standing
ovation. The winner is announced as a tie, The Warblers and New
Directions. Rachel and Finn hug.

Will brings home the trophy to show Emma. She shows him her ring. Not
engagement. Wedding. They eloped. Will says he's happy for her, and leaves.

Finn and Rachel try to talk through what happened. He tells her he loves
her, and they hug. No more lying, ever. She tells him that she almost
gave herself to Puck, in retaliation. It only didn't happen because Puck
turned her down. He couldn't do that to Finn again. She cheated on him,
or would have. It's over. She reminds him that he promised he'd never
break up with her. Finn tells her he never thought she could hurt him
like this.

Kurt is panicking, he thinks the canary is dying. Blaine reassures him
that Pavarotti is fine, it's just something he does annually.

Tina and Mike make up as Will brings in the trophy. Santana tells him
she's sorry about Miss Pillsbury. He thanks her, but wants to get back
on track with the choir. He invites Rachel to solo, but she refuses and
turns it over to Tina and Mercedes. They sing "Dog Days are Over". Carl
and Emma kiss, but when they hug, she looks apprehensive. Rachel takes
the "Finn 4ever" sign out of her locker.
