Dance with Somebody - Recap

The episode begins with Mercedes singing “How will I know” in the hallway and is joined by Kurt, Santana and Rachael. Will watches them. They go to the library and then cut to the four standing on a stage and singing under the spotlight. The spotlight points at an empty spot; it is for Whitney. Later, Will tells Emma that he loves Whitney as well. But he thinks that after two months he’d let it go. Emma tells him how the death of Princess Diana affected her life. She says that the death of Diana represented the loss of her childhood. So, Will infers that Whitney is their Diana. Next, Will assigns the class their assignment- Whitney. He wants them to use her songs to get underneath her own feelings. He wants them to see how they are going to cope with the end of their senior year and how the transition is going to affect their lives.

Rachael doesn’t care much about the psychology and she wants to start rehearsing on Whitney’s “Star Spangled Banner” immediately. In the hallway, Kurt tells Blaine that he needs to decide on which one of Whitney’s song will he be choosing as he feels that all have been written for him. He asks Blaine to help him with the assignment, but Blaine tells him that he can’t go with him. Kurt heads to the music store, where he meets Chandler from another school who is also trying for the drama school. Chandler compliments him on his outfit. Kurt tells him that he needs to choose a Whitney song. Chandler suggests that he must do “One Moment in Time” as it is legendary. He asks for Kurt’s number. Kurt is flattered. At the club, Brittany performs on “I want to dance with somebody”. It then transforms into a full- fledged performance.

After the performance, Brittany declares that loves to dance with Santana the most. Quinn is upset. In the hallway, Joe tries to comfort Quinn and asks her about her physical therapy. She tells him that nothing is happening and it is depressing. He offers to accompany her the next time. He tells her that he cares about her and to him being a Christian isn’t only about talk; it is about actions. Next, Will arrives at Emma’s office. He has a gift for her- a wedding planner named Mr. Lavender. He tells her that he has moved the wedding up to next month. Emma thinks it is about SEX. But he says that they have been together for three years and he finds no reason to wait for another seven months. But Emma tells him that wedding planning takes a lot of time. But then she agrees.

Rachael tells Kurt that she has been practicing her song and she still isn’t able to sing it. Just then Kurt receives a text from Chandler and Kurt tells her that it is just fun and it means nothing. He admits that Blaine and he are like this old couple; they have lost the spark. Chandler, on the other hand compliments him and it makes him feel good. Rachael tells him that if he is hiding this from Blaine, then it is not that innocent. At the club, Joe tells them that he is going to sing a song that he has been practicing with Quinn during her therapy sessions. They sing “Saving all my love for you”. The group sees some sparks flying between them. Right after that tender performance, is the rocking duet of Rachael and Santana. They are simply awesome singing together. During their performance, Kurt keeps getting texts from Chandler and seems to be very happy.

But Blaine is a little glum. In the washroom, the girls ask Quinn about Joe. She tells them that Joe is not into her and feels that no one would be, with her on the chair. Will and Emma meet Mr. Lavender. The wedding planner tells will that he is not a miracle worker and that he will need more time to work his magic. Will isn’t too happy with the suggestion and asks him to leave as they are going to do everything themselves. He is not going to move the date. Joe approaches Sam and wants to talk about Quinn. Sam tells him that Joe needs to decide whether he wants to be closer to God or be closer to Quinn. Next, Blaine goes through Kurt’s texts. He feels cheated. Kurt tells him that it is nothing but he like the way Chandler makes him feel. Blaine points out that he transferred his school for Kurt and changed his whole life.

Blaine tells him that it is not right; Kurt says it is OK! Blaine then performs on “It is not right but it is ok” at the glee club. It is for all those people who feel cheated. Rachael tells Santana that they wasted three years going for each other’s throat when they could have been singing together. They still have 42 days to be friends. Rachael gives her a picture of hers and asks Santana to put it up in her locker. She gives Santana a hug and leaves. at home, Kurt tells his father that he and Blaine are on the rocks. Kurt’s father doesn’t want him to go to New York. Burt tells Kurt that he has been skipping dinner as he knows that there aren’t going to be anymore dinners. He is going to miss his son and he is upset. They hug each other. At the glee club, Kurt sings “I have nothing”.

He is singing to Blaine. Next, Emma counsels Kurt and Blaine. She tells them that brutal honesty is the cornerstone of every relationship. Blaine declares that Kurt has being texting this guy and he is really upset. He also admits that a while back he had been doing the same thing. He points out that every conversation of theirs ends up with NYADA and how amazing New York is going to be. It seems like Kurt is just waiting to get out of here. He asks Kurt how is that supposed to make him feel when he knows that Kurt would be gone in a few months and that he is going to be alone. He is trying to practice how life is going to be without him. Kurt assures him that he isn’t going to lose him. At home, Will has brought champagne. He tells Emma that he has found the wedding venue; a campground.

Emma is not very pleased. Emma tells him that they should move the wedding to November; but Will fears that the glee kids won’t come back if the wedding is in November. He tells her that the kids have changed his life and he wants them to be at his wedding. Emma assures him that the kids won’t forget their teacher. At the rehab, Joe admits that he is interested in Quinn. He tells her that when he is with her he doesn’t care what God has to say about the sins of the flesh. He just wants to know what it is like being with her. next, Mercedes and Artie sing “Your love is My love”. All the club members join them. it is their last classes of their senior year. Will watches his favorite students from the rafter. The episode ends.
