Glee: Girls (and Boys) on Film
As everyone recovers from Will and Emma’s wedding, the glee club is given the assignment to sing their favorite song from a movie. Meanwhile in New York, Santana makes herself at home in the loft a little too quickly for Rachel and Kurt’s comfort. Also, the members of New Directions sing the hit series’ landmark 500th musical performance in the all-new “Girls (And Boys) On Film
The episode begins with Will and Emma performing “You are all the world to me”. At the end of the performance, Will wakes up from his dream. Will gives the students the assignment for the week, “MOVIES”. He tells them that it is going to be a group competition, boys vs. girls, and it will also be a mash up. He tells them that since movies are all about visuals, they should concentrate on their performance along with the singing. Artie tells the club that he is making a movie, so he will offer starring roles to whichever team wins. Finn says to Artie "Aint nobody got time for that." This is a reference to a current saying made popular by a woman in an infamous news interview which went viral online.
Santana calls Brody "Pablo Escabar." He was a Columbian drug lord responsible for much of the cocaine present in America during the 1970's and 1980's.
Marley references the Hunger Games saying it was her favorite romantic movie of all time. This would likely have been a joke as the movie is filled with violence and brutal murder.
