Glee follows a high-school teacher as he tries to revitalize the school's Glee Club. This show is a musical drama; as it places musical numbers throughout the hour long show; but instead of having the characters spontaneously break into song, the numbers are usually done as part of the rehearsal process for the glee club.
Season One deals with a single school year and starts out with the glee club reorganizing... Going from 5 "glee geeks", who are considered on the bottom of the schools social ladder, to recruiting the 'popular kids' from the football team and cheerleader squads. The season wraps up with the club competing in Sectionals. During the course of the year we're shown the various trials of the members as they deal with the classmates, the teacher's continuous 'fight' with the cheering squad coach (who wants the program to end), and various life changes for the cast.
The show followed one of the new trends in tv (a trend I fervently hope dies soon) and split it's season into two parts with a lengthy break in between. And with the exception of the season ending episode, the shows in the second part of the series pale in comparison to the quality of the first half of the season. Overall, it's a good show however; and the strong season ending episode gives hope to promise of a entertaining second season.
