"Alton", played by Alton Brown
Alton is the chief "character" behind this show. Writer of most episodes (he's been joined by Rob DeBorde in recent years), Alton gets research help from a small staff. Most of the people who appear for a brief scene are production people in costumes (there are a few recurring characters played by real actors). With this ensemble and his own wits, Alton sets out to teach cooking from a scientific perspective. Frequent pop culture references suggest a few things that may amuse or entertain Alton: Steely Dan, James Bond, Star Wars, and others. If you want to know what to mix, any cooking show will do.
