| Peabody Award (2006) |
The Peabody Award, established in 1941, rewards achievement and meritorious service in the radio and television industry. Good Eats received the award in 2006:
"Rarely has science been taught on TV in such an entertaining – and appetizing – manner as it is in Alton Brown`s goofy, tirelessly inventive series."
Alton had this to say about the achievement:
Good Eats is my best work to date; I am proud of the work, proud of the people, and humbled to have the show recognized alongside other very distinguished Peabody Award winners.
I have been a Peabody fan ever since his inspiring success in time-travel, done with the assistance of Sherman, whom I always thought held him back.
But seriously folks, getting a Peabody Award means a great deal to me and to the scary-smart and energetic crew members who help make the show come alive. It's a darned huge day here in the ol' Good Eats studio, I promise you that.
