The Big Sleep No More - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Blair, in bed, is awakened by a nightmare about former lover Chuck Bass and looks wildly about her bedroom, only to be greeted by her pregnant maid bringing her breakfast in bed. Blair says that
she doesn't believe that Chuck has truly changed into the philanthropist that he is claiming to be, that she is very suspicious about his apology last night and she is plotting to trip him up, to reveal him for what he still really is. Her maid looks at her with disdain and disbelief, but says she will help her with her plan, anyhow. Blair tucks into her eggs and toast with a smug smile.

Chuck, at his apartment, is listening to Nate complain about life with Diana being boring, being all sex and work, not all he thought it would be and would like to date other girls. Chuck suggest that maybe Nate should discuss said topic with Diana, see where it goes from there. Nate agrees and leaves to find Diana.

Serena and Charlie are coming out of their apartment discussing Serena's blog under Diana's direction. Serena is not terribly enthusiastic about the idea, but Charlie encourages her to continue, that perhaps bigger things are just over the horizon where Diana is concerned. Incidentally, doesn't she want to bring down Gossip Girl in return for all the times Gossip Girl has attacked her and her friends and family?

At Diana's office, Diana notices her Nate flirting openly with Charlie who is totally uncomfortable with the whole idea. She does her level best to discourage him. Diana calls Nate into her office and they discuss his feelings about their love affair. She suggest to him that maybe they should have an open relationship, but he isnt sure about that. After Nate leaves, Diana calls Charlie into her office, says hands off, Nate is hers. Charlie informs her that the flirtation was all Nate's idea, which Diana seems to accept for the time being.

Chuck is walking his dog, Bucky, in Central Park near the duck pond when he runs into Blair who is taking the afternoon air. Looking uncomfortable, she berates Chuck, saying that their contract/agreement states that the duck pond is on her turf and would he kindly leave? He concedes, taking his mutt with him. Blair huffs and walks on.

On the sidewalk, Serena runs into Max, Charlie's ex boyfriend. She doesn't know who he is when he tells her he is looking for a certain address where a job interview awaits him in two hours. He also tells her he is looking for his former girlfriend, Ivy. Serena doesn't know any Ivy, who is actually Charlie. She offers to take him to lunch at a nearby restaurant. She begins to feel awkward, hastily excusing herself and hurries off, leaving him looking puzzled. He goes to his interview and gets the job.

Diana tells Nate to take a few days off when he tells her he is confused about their relationship. He agrees.

Charlie is on the street chatting with Nate when she sees her ex, Max, walk by and to hide her face, she grabs a surprised Nate, kisses him. Max walks on by, not seeing her. Later, Charlie tells Diana
about seeing Max on the street. Diana laughs and suggests she ask Nate out on a date, explaining that they are taking a breather right now. Max decides to take Serena to the play since she helped him out earlier that day.

Nate moans to Chuck about Charlie's puzzling behavior, now on, now off, showing affection, then not. Chuck suggests he take her out, see what might happen. Chuck is holding a charity play that night and invites Nate to take Charlie to it, and he agrees.

At Diana's office, Charlie sees Max come in, talking to Diana. Charlie feels this is only adding more confusion to the mix and leaves. Blair, by phone, gets a ticket to Chuck's charity play to try and trip him up, see if he has really reformed or not.

At the charity play that night, Chuck welcomes the guests to the hotel where it is being held, tells them to wear the masks being handed out, to follow the play from room to room, be curious, touch, see, etc, to fully appreciate the performance. It turns out that both Blair and her maid are there, the maid to keep an eye on Blair.

Blair recognizes Chuck despite the mask he is wearing. He is standing at the hotel's bar when she walks up to him, lifts his mask, kisses him. He kisses her back soundly and she, very annoyed, slaps him hard on the face. She tells him she knows he has not changed, that he is just a sensual creep, and will never change. He watches her turn on her heel and leave, a sardonic smile on his face. He sees the shocked maid watching him, her mouth hanging.

Diana tells Charlie to go kiss Nate, but it is actually Max under that mask. Charlie kisses the man and a masked Nate sees her leave with Max. Later, Nate tells Diana that she was right, that Charlie is just a
scheming little witch, that she should just leave him alone.

Dan tells his father that the book tour is not what he had hoped it would be. His dad tells him to just be patient, to work on what he has for now, that things will turn around for the better
when he isn't expecting it. Dan allows that his father may just be right, recommits himself to making the book tour a success.

After the party, Nate and Diana resolve to work on their relationship, to keep it exclusive, to try harder.

Diana and Serena vow together to bring Gossip Girl down in revenge for all the times she has gone after loved ones undeservedly. Diana is quite sure she knows just how!
